TheUndert0ker
I'd like to expand my gameplay with the excellent Phalanx mod by creating new, custom companions. I'm relatively new to modding but I thinking if there's a way to clone or copy the Deisha NPC, I could just simply adjust her appearance to suit my needs. I have a game in progress and I don't know how to do this. Actuaolly, after hours of pouring through the GECK I have no clue how to do this. I've discovered I can insert a clone of her, but that's just a clone. What I'm really looking to do is to copy her scripts/AI but alter her physical appearance. Anyone have the know-how to do this? TGBlank
There's no "one click duplicate" for this. It can get quite complex.to dupe deisha, You need to create a new npc, set it's stats and etc to those of deisha (except name and editor name ofc), create a new script and copy deisha's script into this new one, then edit w/e needs to be edited, then go through deisha's conversations and all phalanx conversations, and either make duplicates for your new npc or add your new npc as option.. then there's all the result scripts of these conversations that need to be edited as well.. then there's packages, + the quest and followers' scripts.... FO3Phalanx
Adding a regular (non-Phalanx) follower is already hard if you are new (I was new when I added Malcolm and Deisha.. it took so long, with so many little, ruinous mistakes along the way that I would never make now). It's much harder to make a fully-functional humanoid/ghoul Phalanx follower than it is even a regular one. You have to insert your new follower into every one of my scripts, this includes Followers through Followers7, and all those scripts have to work right when you're done. With the vanilla game, there's only one control quest for them (Followers and its script), and no special scripted behaviors to speak of. Phalanx followers have many more AI packages as well. If you don't understand (or cannot figure out) the layout of how everything works, it sounds impossible to do, stuff will end up broken. If you wanted to make a start on this sort of thing, you might make your own stand-alone follower. You will want to create your own version of the "Followers" quest that's dedicated to your follower (so that NPCFollowersLIST is unchanged), and your own version of the quest script it runs, and so on. Many of the group commands will not be observed by your follower in that sort of setup, but one has to start somewhere. Attempting to start with a fully-integrated Phalanx follower if you have no experience with the design of a more basic one is IMO asking for a heap of a mess.
