Two days I have been at this but to no luck!!!! I see similar issues all over the place but no real solution. People post their own version of the fix but each is a fix to a completely different problem, (i.e. Registry errors, wrong data folder placement and so on... Hopefully this will be the thread that gets it done! Ill be more than happy to help anyone else with the issue.

Here is the exact problem:

"Mods that are installed into the Skyrim directory by appropriately using Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) AND by manually placing them into the appropriate folders in the directory, are not appearing in the Skyrim launchers "data files" thus not working in game."

It is to my understanding that some mods will not appear in such list, that only mods with an " .esp " or " .esm " are the ones that will show up. if that is so, even a test run of the game still confirms to me that the mod/mods are not working.

I do in fact have access to the 'data files' in the game launcher, so my issue isn't with the "bEnableFileSelect=1". located in SkyrimPerfs. within my game saves in Documents, and the game directory it's self, other wise I would not have access to the "data files" in game launcher what-so-ever. (it would be grayed out and un-selectable)

When Installing the DLC and High Res Textures pluggins from my other disk those pluggins do in fact appear in the data files in game launcher and I have full access to check/uncheck the pluggins of my choise.

Using Nexus Mod Manger I can confirm that the Files are installing in the appropriate directory.

I have been testing the problem with a simple mod: "http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4929/?"

Really straight forward mod and easy to confirm weather it is working in game or not regardless of the mod appearing in the "data files" in game launcher.

That's about as much detail as I can provide. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any request for addition information to the problem will be answered to ASAP.

Well there are a few things you can do about this, you can try adding this line under [General] in your my games\skyrim\skyrim.ini: bLoadLooseFiles=1

Or similarly if your files are archived in a .bsa but don't have an .esp (this can even be done with .bsa's that have .esp's, i have done this with the HD dlc pack so that they dont overwrite custom textures in game) you can add the .bsa to the [Archive] section of the same skyrim.ini like this:

[Archive]
sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Textures.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa
sResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa, HighResTexturePack01.bsa, HighResTexturePack02.bsa, HighResTexturePack03.bsa

Hopefully one of these will help.

edit: I am assuming that you are adding files that do not have an .esm or .esp, am i wrong?

Looks as though the bLoadLooseFiles=1 inserted under [General] did not work.

Checked in both data files in game launcher and in game to confirm the condition of the mod. Nothing worked.

And I'm fairly sure you are correct, the Mod I'm attempting to use does not contain any " .esp " or " .esm " according to the description of the mod on Nexus.

I should attempt using a mod congaing those files?

I should also note i do not currently have the DLC and High Res Textures pack installed. Just the base game.

For one you should stop using the game launcher for anything other than changing graphic settings. NMM will show you what mods you have installed, and it will do so more accurately.

Could you do me a favour and screenshot the load order shown on NMM? It is on the "Plugins" tab.

Okay so you're testing this with the maps mod i see, Is that installed right now via NMM?

I know for a fact that it doesn't use esp or esm so it shouldnt show up on the list, and isn't so thats all good :tongue: are you sure this isn't working in game? depending on what options you chose when you installed it, it could look a lot like the vanilla map.

To test the list itself you are going to need to use a different mod though, something which you'll probably end up using anyway is SkyUI here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3863/? this mod does use an .esp so it should show up in the list, and it's just as easy to check because you just need to open your inventory or spell menu :smile:

You WILL need SKSE to run SkyUI aswell, but at the end of the day you'll need skse for like 50% of the mods on the nexus anyway, so that's must have too at the end of the day.

Okay i've gone off topic here, the list isn't even the problem... So the map isn't working? >.<

I know this is a year old but i had this problem. I just solved it by changing the file extensions of the mods from 7z to esm. Boom fixed...

Oops I spoke to soon. They appear in the data but they aren't in game.

I have that problem too that they don't show up in the data files in Skyrim launcher. I used mod manager to download all my mods and have fixed my load order. I do know my mods work or well when I tested RaceMenu it worked but i'm wondering do they have to appear there? My RaceMenu mod wasn't in the data files in Skyrim launcher and it still works for me
