Okay, so I'm new to the Skyrim modding community (hello!) and I felt there was a distinct lack of custom shouts. So I tried my hand at making one, and it works! (minus the vo dialogue).

Mmmm...It's nice and all, but it's not the effect that I'm looking for.

I wanted to try and create an effect that's more like this.

I've messed around in NifSkope a bit but...

Tutorials on weapons/armor modification hasn't helped much. The closest I've come to a helpful tutorial is this one by Entrophoria.

Long story short: Anybody know any methods to create custom spell/shout projectiles?

Alright, so I was able to bring this bad boy into 3DsMax.

Next challenge, how to edit the materials correctly...

Progress is being made...

...even if all there is, is an invisible ball of light.

You could try using the effects of the dragon firebreath shout (different from the dragonborns). It shoots a jet of fire. I would substitute the dragonborn effect for the actual dragons one. Easier than... doing whatever you are doing.

Used that one first actually, but I didn't use it for three reasons.

1. It's not the effect I'm looking for

2. It only lasts for a few seconds at a time

3. The flame extends back behind the player's head and it just looks weird

So it turns out a block of data in the .nif is out of date/invalid/corrupt...

...and these blocks point to non-existent data....

...so as a test I deleted these branches. Now Skyrim crashes as save is being loaded. Is this option out or is there a solution?

Just an update.

More and more dead ends...

On the plus side, I'm beginning to figure out how NifSkope works.

*sigh* This IS possible, Midas Magic is proof of that. I just need to figure out how they did it...
