Well, if you have uninstalled it, I am not surprised.

Does C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition exist on your system?

and you should not install your games in C:\Program Files (x86)

Oh, that's true!

I have my Steam games installed in C:\Steam\steamapps\common\

The GOG games I have in C:\GOG Games

And I never use Mod Manglers since one of my Skyrim games got wrecked. There are two mods I use that should never be installed with a Mod Mangler, and one of them has their own Uninstallation script.

But this was back in early 2012. I always install manually as I took the time to learn exactly what I was doing and how mods work. I don't like to click on a 3rd party programme and let it release havoc on my system.

I do not even let Steam Auto-Update, and I certainly would never allow any of my data, of any sort, to be stored on a "Cloud". "The Cloud" is just someone else's computer, so why would I ever allow them to have any control over my documents, files, games, images, music and so on? And I've never "synced" a device in my life.

Anyway, maybe the OP should install Steam in C:\Steam and then install Skyrim in C:\Steam\Steamapps\Common?

SKSE is not a mod, it's a script extender and should be installed according to instructions at Silverlock, and NEVER installed with a Mod Mangler.

Then, maybe you can tell Vortex where your Skyrim game is installed, and hopefully all will be well.

Also, make sure that the version of Skyrim you have, the version of SKSE you have and the Mods are all designed to run together. IE, all the Mods AND SKSE must be designed for Skyrim SE if that is the game you are running. You cannot mix and match.

So you should end up with C:\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Skyrim Special Edition.

All the Best and Good Luck.
