Psychoticpyro
Currently I don't own F3 but I have eveything prepared and excelent modding experience in Oblivion (and other games too, but most importantly Oblivion because it is similar to F3).But soon I am getting the game anyway and until then I will focus on:-modelling (to edit vanilla creatures to provide variety to my modification, using F3 models I catch on the nexus or provided by friendly modders)-texturing, my number 1 skill, retextures of what I see necesary.-planning, what the gamemode should be like (maximum difficulty, not enemy stat-wise, but in general you won't get that much ammo or firearms to fight them off and most of the time they will get lost and deteriorated, so don't expect to stick to a shotgun for the whole gamemode)-sketches and ideas of interior locations planned to provide long gameplay and enemy variety, as well as loot.-story board, making simple but long quests with plenty of surprises (good and bad) and a few endings (like in oblivion). When I do get F3 I will fire up GECK and start scripting, but I would need ideas and perhaps a little help. So, what would you like to see in a REALISTIC SURVIVAL SIMULATION? duckdude
Enemies that go down fast, but come at you in big numbers. (Dogs, zombies etc.) To get a feeling that the guns actually throw cuite a punch. Better mellee weapons/More mellee weapons. The "mood", not to dark, not to funny. Finding interesting finds in the wasteland. Like finding a crashed plane or vertibird, or some other pre war tech that has crashed or something. (like the nuclear missile crashed in one of the DC areas, or the UFO, or the Satcoms) Life in the Wasteland.
Psychoticpyro
I will consider your proposal (that of interesting findings, personally I am thinking of the abandoned junk vehicle scrapyard in a nukelear crater from the hills have eyes movie, mutants hijack vehicles, eat the people and hide all the vehicles in the crater so that they will not alert anyone out in the mexican desert) Better mellee weapons/More mellee weapons. I was thinking of those that apart from killing can be used to CRAFT out in the open, such as hammers, screwdrivers and wrenches/keys. The "mood", not to dark, not to funny. Well... one thing that's for sure, the mod will give the player needs and one of them is the mood, if it gets to 0 you suicide and if you have it low you can lose personality or receive psychological illness such as squizofrianea, factors that affect your mood is sleepiness, hunger, hygiene, bladder, social and environment (that depends on the location, indoor areas are more scary for the character, so finding blood out in the open during the day won't spook you as much as being locked in dunwich at night with all those ghouls lurking about, also if you have any disease such as claustrofobia it even affects you more, so basically leveling up also means your character litteraly grows some *ban* balls. VT08
This sounds great. I'm excited to see what you turn out. I too would be interested in seeing the "low-level play" extended a bit by adding lots of makeshift weapons and armor. Maybe resources and necessities such as food and water get to be so low at times that the player is almost forced to live like a raider for a time, preying on the weak. Surviving hardships should be relatively easier for those low in scruples, and extremely difficult for anyone else trying to live outside of a large community. The more time you spend in the wastes, the more of your soul the wastes eat away...
BadPenney
Want realism? How about removing all Radaway and Rad-X, because there is no magic potion to take away radiation exposure. So you have to be real careful about exposing yourself to radiation. Make different types of radiation; alpha and beta that Rad suits can block, and gamma that suits can't block. How about one shot to the head and you are dead, like in real life. One shot to the arm and it's out of action. And wounds bleed over time, so even if you kill all your opponents, you can die from blood loss. Stimpaks slow or stop the blood loss but no instant full health. No instant cure for crippling, only time can heal. You have to eat and drink regularly or you die. No water for 7 days and you are dead. No food for 60 and you are dead. And you lose health and endurance the longer you go without. Then there is that radiation thing... so fighting the scavengers for the cache of pure water becomes more important. Add some food that is not radioactive and make it expensive. Make it impossible to run forever and not get tired. After you run for a while you get tired and can only walk. Make rough terrain get you tired faster than smooth. Make easily travelled paths booby trapped.Make everything you carry weigh, right down to caps. And the more you carry the more quickly you get tired. Make walking in the hot sun cause dehydration and exhaustion rather then giving you health. That and stealth make night travel more desirable. Make travelling at night or in the dark indoors reduce your perception. Make it so that you have to sleep a certain amount of hours regularly or you lose perception and intelligence and eventually pass out. Make enemies that hunt you down after they lose sight of you. Fallout enemies give up way too easily. Remove all VATS combat. It doesn't exist in real life. Just a few ideas. Maybe less fun, but more real.
