ANTLER!

why has no one made ANTLER the companion yet?

it would need to have scripted speech and voice but no animations. im thinking he would sound similar to the toaster in OWB but less violent. since Antler was very trusting of you in the basement of the RECONN testing facility. i dont know if its possible to jsut have it spout of insaneries at random. kinda like when npcs get within range and talk maybe?

either give you a perk like a companion or have stats like an item i guess it depends on how its made.

if it was a perk it would be something called like "voices in my head" and give you -1 to perception but increased your damage dealt and lessens dmage taken like slasher? maybe increases your attack speed with the fervor of the devoted? im just spitballing here but Antler will be your new god so he bestows his blessings on the worthy.

of course you wouldnt be able to aquire him unless you kill davison in the basement and take him for yourself.

maybe he could be worn like jewelry? like a flavor flav type necklace? or a backpack? OR A MASK!!!!!

please make this happen, if i knew how to do this stuff i would haha.

Maybe he could follow you like a Weeping Angel, only moving when you aren't looking.

Or, what was that entity from Garry's Mod? The evil garden gnome that followed you the same way, only moving when you weren't looking, and would either stab you to death or vaporize you if you didn't keep running away from it and could only be killed with fire? That thing scared the bejesus out of me!

lol that would be hilarious, make it so he foloows you no matter what but he jsut appears next to you or floats around (though i think that would be less than lore friendly) but definitley an idea!!!

Well, Antler can't follow the player (Antler only exists as part of Davison like Lily and Leo). Davison could follow the player, though, and he would bring Antler along with him. Turning Davison into a companion would be easy enough to do and adding Antler to his armor would be a nice touch. I've considered turning Davison into a companion but have never had the time. He (they) would make an exceptionally entertaining companion

it would be easier, but not as entertaining as the courier being "haunted" by a new friend like Antler. im thinking along the lines of FO3 and the dark magic stuff in the deep basement of that one building with all the ghouls...maybe a note on davison written by davison (who is in full capacity of his faculties! lol) detailing how he finds Antler and how Anlter helps him. theres refereances to haunted places all throghout the fallout universe, why not a huanted item?

like NYchus01 said, he could follow (appear) near the courier like the mod for FO3 that used the garden gnome. it is possible, i just dont knwo how to do it. it might not be 100% lore friendly but its only barely bending whats there to our own devices.

Well, yeah, that's an idea, and it would be a good one too except that the lore in the game doesn't support it. Antler exists because Davison is mentally ill because he's a Nightkin who used Stealth Boys too much. Here's the bit from the wiki, "Antler is a brahmin skull that Davison, a former captain in the Master's Army, picked up while he and his troop of nightkin wandered the Wasteland. Nightkin develop a form of schizophrenia from prolonged Stealth Boy use; because of this, they believe that the skull gives them orders and guidance."

If you want a haunted object to follow you around it could be anything, including a brahmin skull. It doesn't have to be Antler.

right, i understand the lore and yes it could be any kind of object. however, this would be a kind of ...."what if" type of mod. as in "what if Antler wasnt a figment of a schizophrenic mind?" "what if Antler really is an old god or spirit that took up residence in the skull after being summoned be whatever cultists were summoning up (lovecrafitan referance like the dunwich building in FO3.) all the lore "unfriendliness" could easily be explained with a note placed on davisons body. or even in dialogue scripts with the skull if such a thing is possible.
