BrotherShamus
Solstheim is... ugly. I've tried just about every mod I can find to hide that hideous terrain but it's really like polishing a turd. Some mods do look okay but due to the amount of open landscape, it's tough to not notice the tiling. I don't know if it would be immersive but... if the whole island was covered in grass (aside from the snowy bits), I wouldn't try to rush in and rush out as fast as I could. I know about Summer Solstheim and I love the idea but I've had some problems with it that I can't seem to ssolve. I'd be willing to make a mod myself for this but I have no clue where to even start. Bethesda really kinda screwed the pooch on this.
anjenthedog
I may be wrong, but I could almost swear I saw a mod review for something that's supposed to green Solstheim. Maybe it was for LE... idk. Not much help but maybe a glimmer of hope.
BrotherShamus
I actually found something in the optional files of this mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/45873?tab=posts)... going to try it now to see if it works. Thanks! edit: seems to work!
anjenthedog
Also, If you install Seasons of Skyrim - Springtime Overhaul, I ***think*** it also swaps snow for greenery (mainland strength) on the less "blasted" areas of Solstheim. Of course, if you're a fan of snow, that's a bust, but I thought I'd suggest it anyway. I run an "early spring" game. I gave up on snowy Skyrim a long time ago (too much white everywhere. I live that for ~4 months every year, that's enough for me). But tbh, I don't recall if solstheim was snowier before the install or not. (I *think* it was) fwiw. Oh. PS. If you employ the garden hoe from Farm Everywhere Enhanced SSE, you can at least manually spruce up areas like the Severin mansion front yard. I'm not spending a lot of time doing it, but every time I visit solstheim I try to a add another plant or two of one sort or another. At least those I can plant anyway. That gives me a nowhere idea. A mod that... well, suppose you plant "N" pants within a confined area of some maximum size (idk, some short X by Y grid with the equivalent dimensions to say, 50x50 ft) . It then "detects" "critical mass" and periodically spawns another of those plants a random short distance from the "parent" plant. But I digress... (and yes, it could get out of hand, so maybe not the shrewdest idea I've ever tendered... or put some upper limit on how large "the colony" can get to avoid nuking the db)
BrotherShamus
I had considered Seasons of Skyrim but I actually do like having some winter in the game (I'm in Canada so... also lots of snow here) and having just switched to Nordic Snow, I'm pretty happy with how it looks. The Solstheim Genesis mod on the Mnem Raven Rock page took quite a bit of tweaking but... along with the Raven Rock mod itself, has produced some stunning results! I've got the Farm Everywhere mod bookmarked for my next LO as well. I think the mod you're suggesting has possibilities! I love having lots of flora in my game so anything that helps to add grass, trees and plants is something I would use and if I'm understanding correctly... having the same plants interspersed around the growing area would make gardens feel a lot more organic. Gorsha
You can give this and this a try
BrotherShamus
They both look good... I was actually using Rally's AIO and it did make Solstheim look better but it was still that depressing environment... and I think the Unique Solstheim Grass only overwrites whichever grass mod you're using but doesn't add anything so you're still looking at that horrid ash texture. I'm pretty happy with what I'm using now. I'm actually going to spend some time in Solstheim doing the radiant quests instead of killing Miraak and getting out as quickly as possible.
