Character idea: Orcish Smith. Need help fleshing out

I just had a concept for a new character that I like the sound of, but it needs fleshing out. It involves a lot of things I do not normally do :D

I was thinking of making an Orc (a race I never use) who seeks to create the ultimate weapons and armour (Smithing, Enchanting; skills I never use). He will need to go out a lot for raw materials (mining for ore, dungeon-diving to discover new enchantments to study). Will also follow rumours to discover powerful ancient artifacts to study them (eg Daedric quests, which I never do :P). The basic idea sounds a lot of fun, but is outside my comfort zone (Breton Mage / Dunmer Spellblade). I could use a little help/advice.

Firstly, mods. I run SkyRe, otherwise I mostly just run STEP. Not sure if there are any additional mods that would enhance this concept, but well worth asking.

Secondly, I am really, really unfamiliar with Smithing/Enchanting, especially with the rebalance they received under SkyRe. Has anyone any advice to offer on making efficient use of these? Enchanting, in particular, seems difficult to make use of at lower levels. Do you just sit on it until later, or am I mistaken?

Thirdly, the character will need more than just those two skills to be able to do the exploration/questing. Since I will be making TEH ULTIMATE gear, it seems most sensible to use those powerful weapons and armour. For an Orc, Heavy Armour/Two-Handed Weapons seems the most obvious choice, but would they be the best choices for this kind of character? Are there any other skills I aught to use as support?

Any other RP suggestions?

What DLC if any will you be running?

Oh right, you'll be running SkyRe.

Well.. just have fun with it. :D

Off the top of my head a RP friendly Orc Smith would go something along the lines of this:

Main: Heavy Weaponry, Wayfarer, Smithing

Secondary: Speech, Enchanting, Heavy Armor

Other Info: Since you are melee based you'll probably want to get a magic based companion asap-- Eola or Marcurio does nicely.

Enchanting Awakened - a must have if you want to enjoy enchanting, vs playing the "Time to enchant 120 iron daggers to increase my skill to the next perk" (And i'm not kidding on the number of enchants you have to do).

Can't stress that enough, enchanting is boring and immersion breaking otherwise.
