So I have been playing with the GECK a lot making areas and neat little things. And I wanted to make a little story that involves you moving to a new area and helping out a group/tribe of people and your actions would effect some things later on, but in the end you help shape a new city or town, whatever. I have a lot of ideas down, and have been putting a bunch of internal areas together. But there are a few things that are standing in my way. 1) I don't know how to work the world space, to have hills and valleys and rivers, all that. Since having a lot of nice things on a totally flat area would look stupid, (also I can't think of anywhere in America that is totally flat.) 2) How do you make one of the .BSA files? I have some models and effects I tore out of FO3 FO3DLC's and DLC's, and a few things I retextured myself, or link up and mesh together customish models? Like if I made a new model for outfits not just retexture them. 3) Does anybody remember the time difference between FO3 and FONV? It's like 4 years yeah? Dudeman325 Posted November 15, 2013 Share Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) The Mod Talk sub-forum might have been a better place for this, as that's more of a discussion forum, whereas this forum is mostly a depository for work requests, but that's neither here nor there, and the thread is already here. :smile: 1) This page on the bethsoft GECK wiki might be able to help a bit, but I know there's a lot there that isn't said. From what I've seen tinkering around in the GECK, the devs mostly used the terrain tools for rather large, rough curves and lines, while "smaller" features are shaped with a variety of rock, dirt, and boulder static objects. I know this isn't much help, but I don't have too much to add as its something I haven't messed with very much. Trial and error may be the name of the game here. 2) Fallout Mod Manager has a utility to package .bsa files, with varying levels of compression. I can't attest to how well it works, but FOMM as a whole is a great program, so I'm sure its fine. 3) Peadar1987 got it right, 2277 and 2281. Hope this was useful!
