SnakeTheFox
In case the recent tech support sub-forum flood wasn't enough of a warning, yes, Fallout 3 patch 1.5 is completely broken, in many ways. Bethesda have done it again. They managed to fix 2 things, and break 20. I can't really speak for EVERYONE that's downloaded the patch, but I can speak for a great few when I say DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS PATCH. EVEN IF YOU'VE SEEN OR HEARD OF PEOPLE BEING ABLE TO USE IT, DON'T RISK IT. I installed it expecting all the problems to be overblown, but lo and behold, I can't access interior areas anymore (Megaton, Citadel) without my game crashing. Anyone else run into this specific issue? So far, and I haven't (understandably) played much since this CTD started occurring, but so far it's the biggest bug I've seen. I can't access interior areas. Luckily I backed up a copy first onto my second HDD, but a lot of people weren't able to do that. I'm honest, if it didn't occur to you already not to, don't risk downloading 1.5. I understand it's 'required' for Broken Steel, but you may end up downloading Broken Fallout instead. Yossarian22
Sadly broken steel dont work without 1.5You get a tons of bugs only to get the ending running.I myself wasnt able to pass the ending to actually play BS.But than again, most of the mods dont work with 1.5,but than again, your savegame wont load without some mods, that dont work with 1.5 Yeah... :wallbash: Its really great ! My interest playing this game is sunken rapidely within the last days.
M_C
I've had zero problems with patch 1.5, megaton nor the citadel. YMMV...

I posted something on this earlier and let me see if i can't help. reason why you get CTD when zoning in quicksaving is because a script error in the C++ system in the game conflicts with your graphics drivers, audio drivers or even your version of Direct X. checking for updates on drivers should be no different than getting a check up to see if you don't have cancer; get a checkup when you can and immediately, don't play hero and leave it be. check your graphics card drivers and make sure they are up to date along with any other drivers that may be conflicting with hardware. also you might want to download and install Direct X 10. for Vista users (though few and far between) its a given. for XP users FEAR NOT THERE IS A WAY. go to this website: http://www.techmixer.com/download-directx-10-for-windows-xp/ download the 1. Download DirectX 10 RC2 XP Fix 3 and install it. this a modified version of Direct X 10 to work with XP. made by Alky. I use this myself and it works beautifully (Fallout 3 is surreal at maximum settings  ). I hope I have been of some help. Take care and God bless
SnakeTheFox
Believe me, my drivers are all up to date. If anything, what's more guaranteed to start future incompatibilities with games, is a homebrew DX10 mod for Windows XP. That sounds fishier than hell. "(Fallout 3 is surreal at maximum settings blink.gif )." Fallout 3 isn't DX10 compatible. You can run it with DX10, but it wont add any new visual improvements over DX9c. Really I don't what bearing a homebrew DX10 mod has on an error that's only been prevalent for me since 1.5. Really this seems more like advertising on your part, I've seen this speech in a few other threads.

Hello, chill down! Beth and MS have gotten too much dirt already, these things could happen to everyone, broken patches etc.... happens with a lot of games. BUT its right! After i installed 1.5 i wasnt able to enter megaton, citadel etc... also trying to save but the game crashed! BUT i DISABLED one mod after the other and found outwitch one that did NOT work with 1.5... like if you have a mod that is close to or in contact with megaton or alters anything in megaton you cannot get in, i have disabled a lot of mods and now everything is fine! try that! But i have gotten a new issue! Some of the buildings dissapear! the doors are there and i can enter but on the outside the house is gone.... havent found a solution to this! Please Bethesda!, make a new patch compitable with pit, anchorage, broken steel and fix these things. Best regardsMeyer189 :)

mckmark
All I can say is... Patch 1.5 is like being told there's a cure for blindness, so you take the treatment...and end up not only blind...but deaf and paralyzed as well... There's alot of talk that Bethesda wont make a fix for this either, but they will for sure! How else will they be able to sell you some DLC and steal more of your money while laughing when the patches don't work? Seriously...capitalism sucks... What does interest me is how can a rather large company like Bethesda fail at making a patch when I think one person made a fake patch which works very well minus a few issues? I mean it is incredibly confusing!
SnakeTheFox
Sometimes I think Bethesda and their 'patches', are more of an extreme social experiment where they see how hard a company can metaphorically spew crap all over their userbase, before serious action is taken. Maybe that's just me.
