WoodyCMH
Firstly, I'd like to apologize for bring it up since I'm sure there have been a billion posts on lockups in Morrowind. Since mine is a duplicatable one and I can't seem to get around it right now, I was hoping someone might have some tips. Some facts: I'm playing Morrowind on Xbox.I have not typically had the amount of lockups that some experience, though I do get the occassional one. They seemed to have increased a bit now that I'm later in the game and my save game is larger. I'm performing the quest to return an Imperial Legion murderer to Ebonheart. As I leave the Vivec, Hialo area and move towards Ebonheart, I get the Loading Exterior message. I sometimes can get it to successfully load to Ascadian Isles region, but the Loading Exterior would then hang when getting nearer to Ebonheart. I've had lockups on the road to Ebonheart at this exact same spot on occassion, but retrying a time or two will generally get by it. This time, I can't seem to get around it. I've tried using Divine Intervention and that locked me up. I then tried Almsivi (sp?) Intervention to go to Vivec Temple, then Divine Intervention to get to Ebonheart. That worked, but when return to pick up the Legionaire and then heading back towards Ebonheart, wham, the lockup on Loading Exterior. I'm not sure what to do unless I want to have the darn guy follow me to Seyda Neen and try a boat to Ebonheart. Any suggestions?
Adras
First off, I dont think that you can bring people on boats/silt striders/mages travel/your spells. Never owrked for me. Second, I think that something might have gotton erased from your Ebonhart. What I suggest you do is 1. Clean your disc 2. Try going back to an earlier save game and try going to Ebonhart and 3. Save your game then outrun or kill the guy thats following you, jog overto Seyda Neen and try the boat. If none of those work, all I can say is that you're SOL. Or just try getting a new Morrowind disc, they arent that expensive. If 1, 2 or 3 dont work, ignore the warranty void sticker, open up your X-Box (make sure you remember where all the screws and parts go) and take a can of air and blow the dust and stuff out. (If you have pets, fur might also be a factor). Another thing you might want to try is getting a laser cleaning disc at your local computer/electronic store. They are only like $10 or $15. It should work in an X-Box. Hope that helps.
Malchik
You can certainly take people with you on a boat and silt striders. I usually take Saprius Entius via Vivec boat terminal to Ebonheart. In my game I also can travel with companions via the mages guild guides but that may be an effect of one of the mods I'm playing. As for the game problems it does sound as if something has been corrupted.
brewen
Hey dude ive had random cd lock up on me from music cds to game cds on all consoles and on pc and cd players in cars trucks vans. The ones that always locked up or skipped in the exact same place were damaged in this manner.Hold the morrowind cd up to a light and see if you can see the light through the cover design. If you see light there is a hole. No not the hole in the middle LOL.The cover design acts like a flat cassette tape thet gets scanned by a laser. If there is a hole somewhere a music cd will skip in that exact same spot everytime. If a game cd has a hole it will lock up if for a console in the exact same spot everytime. If for pc and it hasnt been installed it will say bad date or cannot read cd or your computer will just lock up during install or freeze during gameplay. One more thing for everyone on site.Take care of you cds and always clean them before inserting them into any type of cd or dvd player you can actually damage a cd or dvd player with dirty cds.KEEP THEM IN THEYRE CASE. EDIT: Merged your two posts together for ya. You can use the little "edit" button below your post to add new content rather than double posting. Fuzion Shockwave
I know exaclty what you mean, WoodyCMH, I get the same problem very often, as well as the one where the game freezes and I get the black screen that says "Disk may be dirty or damaged. Press A to retry". As the message describes, I believe the source of these problems is a dirty, or damaged disk. In which case, you need to either live with it, trying to clean the disk whenever possible, or you could shell out $25 to buy a new copy of the game. Personally, I try to deal with it, mainly by saving often. But I think that Morrowind is just an overall pretty glitchy game, and so, these things are bound to pop up. Why it happens to me, as far away as possible from one of my saves, is still a mystery  .
