gurgelstock
Before I knew there would be a mod that would raise the level cap, my aim was to get every skill to 100 with the help of careful planning, the comprehension perk and the incredible amount of skillbooks available throughout the gameworld. So when I hit Level 20 I had all skills at 100 except 2. Carefully planning would make sure that these 2 skills would sooner or later be raised to 100 aswell (I just hadn't found the skillbooks yet) With Broken Steel released it seems many of these books are obsolete, and after leveling for just 2 more levels, I was already maxed in every skill and for the next 8 Level-Ups I wont be able to distribute skill points. Of course not everybody spends hours collecting all these books but they are ingame after all. I dont know how else Bethesda should have handeled this, I guess I am just angry that anybody will be able to make a "perfect char" that way. Before that, at least you had to invest some real work and time, search the entire wastelands for these tiny books. Seems kind of easy now... Deleted1084753User
Well, assuming you feel inclined to start a new game sometime, you should go search the nexus for one of the skill mods out there. There's a really good skill book mod that changes skill books to give you ranked perks instead (5 ranks by default, 7 with comprehension) which means you aren't getting all those +2s to your stats from books any more (the perks give you neat stuff like additional small guns damage from advanced weapon handling ability (guns & bullets books), extra carry weight (from us army specialist books) because you're experienced at handling large weapons and therefore have big muscles :D , an extra 3% stealth field while sneaking for each rank from the chinese special ops training books, and so on and so forth.Alternatively, there are one or two mods that will drop the equation used to work out skill points that you could use (so instead of 23 per level at 10int and educated, you'd get 13). Add these to a slower levelling mod so it takes you longer to reach those extra levels and you'd find plenty of challenge in the game :)Only thing to be aware of is the latest patch's ability to break mods, but since the mods I just listed don't actually add anything to the gameworld at all (they only edit stat-based stuff) there's a good chance you should be ok. Although now I think of it, the skill book mod does require FOSE... and I'm not sure how that plays with the latest patch. Still, even if you only used the skillpoints and exp mods, you should still be fine.Disclaimer: I haven't used the latest patch and don't intend to (or get broken steel) until the problems are fixed, so I can't help much if you do find problems. Deleted1084753User
I just found something awesome while randomly browsing the Nexus :D http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=801 Check that out, I think you should find it interesting (and it doesn't require FOSE either).
