Gotta problem

Recommended Posts

I had to reformat my HD, so I did a fresh install of FO3. CFWL patched it to 1.5 & I tried it out & it worked OK. I then went back to GFWL & dl'd my copies of OA & The Pitt. After the DLC was installed I went to play the game again & FO3 won't load, except to the launcher & no further. Anybody have any ideas? Outside of GFWL being the suck.

I just had the same problem earlier today. Tuesday May 12, 2009.

I got it up and running about noon. The launcher would start and the monitor would go black and stay that way. My antivirus software was holding all the fallout 3 folders files Pending as Untrusted status until I gave the Prefrerences controls permission to allow them to run on my machine.

I did not realize that this was a possibility until I shut down the Internet Security Suite and started the game.

While the Antivirus software was off everything worked. I restarted the Internet Security Suite and checked all the files it was holding for me to submit to the company to check out or to permit them witohut submitting the files in questions.

If you have antivirus software, and who doesn't these days, try disconnectingg your Internet or networking modem momentarilly and shut down any antivirus software to see if your game lets you play while the Antiviruis is shut off.

I don't think that was my problem. I received the files & they installed normally. What I ended up doing is going to the hidden files where GFWL installs them & doing a cut & paste into my FO3 Data files & disabling GFWL. As soon as I did that, my game loaded right up. The only trouble was that the game I'd just started wasn't saved, so I had to start a new game. When I started my new game I had radio messages to start the Pitt & OA within two minutes of leaving the vault. I'm barely smart enough to know how to install mods, but it's crap like this that makes it pretty evident that M$ is borking all of Bethesda's content.

Here's another little point for Vista.

Windows Defender can be switched off and on. I turned it on back when I was searching for a new Malware, Spyware, etc suite.

I just had a little mouse control freeze. I could see the Pipboy-3000 and the pictures background was moving but the mouse arrow was frozen. I shut down and as my temperature started rising that Windows Defender gave up a pop up message that something had changed in file.

I turned off Windows Defenders, "Microsofts little malware, spyware sniffer" and returned to playing the game.
