Was wondering something about offical DLC

I noticed someone recently got banned form the site for uploading the full version for KOTN. I Understand this being completely wrong since Bethesda See this for the comercial market. I was just wondering to what extent can you release a mod for DLC. For example If you were to modify The armor in KOTN and upload it would that be thought as being underhanded if you include some files (not all of them) from the Offical DLC?

A mod for DLC... I'd personally say that if you were only uploading the edited meshes (because the texture paths are already set and don't need to be changed, and the textures themselves aren't being modified, it should be okay.

Look at it this way. People like yourself are making modified versions of the vanilla armours to fit specific body mods, right? People have paid for Oblivion. It's the same thing. So logic would dictate that, if you've been allowed to edit the files in the original Oblivion.bsa file, you should be okay to do the same for KotN or SI, etc.

The general rule of thumb is if the mesh, texture, change, addition can be used to any significant extent without the DLC or expansion, you cannot upload it.

For SI content this is a bit more forgiving since having all that extra stuff to explore is worth buying the expansion, but for stuff like KoTN, Horse Armor, and such, which are relatively small, it's a bit more touchy.

Thanks thats good info to know because I not ever want to get in trouble for these things.

Would be nice If Bethesda just let us download these things for free since a majority of anything can be acquired online without pay, underhanded or otherwise file shared with RL friends. not saying I promote pirating DLC, but seems Betheasda made these things a bit too easy to priate since you see people trying to upload offical DLC on this forum on a couple of occasions. In a way i think Bethesda is a bit to blame for lots of their DLC being pirated. For a company that has made lots of money on their games you would think maybe they should fire the people who work in their Anti-prirating R and D branch(if such a thing exist). lol
