Deleted1084753User
I'm doing some tweaking of the ingestibles and chems at the moment and something I see quite often (mostly on duration based effects I think) is this Usage Monitor Effect with an enormous duration specified. What, exactly, does this do? The Base Effect doesn't appear to do anything at all and there doesn't appear to be any info on the GECK wiki, so I'm a bit confused as to the reason for UMON being there. BadPenney
I saw that when I was making some custom liquor. You say "enormous duration specified"? I wonder if it has something to do with length of addiction. Most of the direct effects for chems seem to last about 4 minutes, though that is modifiable. Deleted1084753User
Enormous duration yeah, like 108000 seconds or similar. I thought it might've been something to do with addiction as well but some items that have an addiction chance (like beer) don't have the UMON effect, so I'm not so sure now. BadPenney
I had also speculated that the UMON kept track of a player's use of certain addictive chems and increased the likelihood of addiction with persistent use, or restarted the duration of addiction with continued use. Just guessing because I have seen no references to it either, but it would simulate real world addiction. There is also the effect of lowering SPECIAL attributes during withdrawal from a chem that goes away when that chem is ingested again, even though still addicted.
