Custom Turrets

I have to wonder what the deal with embedded weapons is. I've tried a number of times to get custom embedded weapons working (protectron and turrets) with no success whatsoever. I've just tried again because I want a custom turret in the cell I'm working on at the moment and once again, embedded custom weapons simply refuse to work. The turret tracks enemies fine, but it will not fire. I've tried adding the weapon to the embedded weapons formlist, I've tried making my own formlist, neither works. So my question: is there some arcane and bloody ritual I need to perform to get the darn thing working or what? I've looked everywhere I can think of from factions to combat styles to scripts, and I can't seem to find anything different about my turret compared to the original turret I based it on.

Any insights are most welcome.

PS: I've tried dragging every single ammo type into my turret's inventory, just to be sure there wasn't a stupid ammo-related problem or something, but alas it wasn't that simple.

edit: also, I placed a vanilla ceiling turret near mine for testing. It blew mine off the ceiling in seconds flat. Mine tracked the other turret but didn't fire a shot.

Have you checked out all the "Use info" of the one your copying? Don't know about turrets. However the fact that it doesn't fire may mean it is friendly with those that it is tracking. You may have to somehow make it an enemy.

Nope, it wouldn't track a friendly in the first place, and it's part of the player faction so it would automatically open fire on any hostile target in any case. I seem to recall I DID get embedded weapons working in one case (a custom Eyebot with a minirocket launcher), but I'm not entirely sure why that worked when this doesn't. This is most vexing >:|

edit: Interesting, suddenly it works. I created a new weapon, based on one of the existing turret weapons again and this time it worked. Weird, I wonder why the first one I did didn't work then. The GECK is one big mindscrew heh.
