LTEX changes = normal occurrence or bad bug dirtying mod or ?

Good day, everyone!

I am trying to do my first mod that places something into exterior cell, namely a cute little house.

Exterior cell of course needs few minor landscaping adjustments. I use TES CS that came with GOFY edition, no add ons, and as esms I use Morrowind and Bloodmoon (but not Tribunal to avoid all the clicking over errors each time I start TES CS).

Now to my problem:

I have noticed little star at several landscaping textures as if I would modify them yet I haven't done that at all, most I haven't even ever selected, I only did 2 or 3 right clicks on ground with AI_grass selected. Yet AI_grass and around 3 other textures (some sand & shore & other AI-grass) got star.

I went to mod details list and seen them (LTEX) also on the list of changes that my mod applies.

I quit my mod and experimented a bit with fresh new empty mod (with only Morrowind.esm or Morrowind and Bloodmoon.esm or all 3 esms). Each time that I selected a texture in landscaping box and applied that texture on the ground several stars appeared in landscaping box, on the texture I used and 2 to 3 other, usually same region related.

So, I assume that most likely applying texture to ground puts stars on the texture I use and on textures I cover/remove with it from the ground and is similar to REFR changes on the list, hence harmless, I hope.

Yet it confuses me that it adds star in the landscaping box too, so just to be safe I decided to post question here, hoping someone will have some answers or advice.

Best regards and thank you!

this. as soon you paint with a texture it gets star'ed, and if you repaint all of those instances with an other texture, the star remains on both. not sure if this is considered as dirty. tescmd doesn't clean this, not sure if possible to clean manually or even necessary. but if you manually clean "the star on a texture" it will remove the texture from where it was painted in your esp, if i remember correctly, i deleted the LTEX entry of a texture.

seems like if you ignore the LTEX entry before loading of the texture, of which you are sure is not used anymore in your mod, won't affect the texture that repainted the one not in use anymore. but still, make backups before you go all OCD on them stars on textures no in use anymore xD

Thanks, FIMzzZzz, I'll just let it be then.

And ZWolol, it is inevitable to get star on cell you are modifying and on border area it can be two of them, but all neighboring cells can and should be avoided by not dragging items into cell in far zoom. It is best to preview large things in interior or test cells before placing them into world.

CS will mark 9 cells (3*3), even if you have not changed anything in the neighboring cells.

"Superfluous" cells can be cleared, for example, by TESTool.

(Only in it you can not use "JUST FIX IT!", otherwise you will ruin the mod.)
