draconix12
Okay, so basically I installed patched to 1.5 before so I could play the dlcs before I even knew about all the great mods for fallout 3. Now that I've got 1.5 and have installed several mods, I've just heard that 1.5 can cause a lot of problems with the game and the mods. What should I do, and is there really anything I can do? Thanks.
jubjubjubjub
I wonder this too, as i got the steam version so i got no choice, but i need mods or i lose my character :( I crash a huge amount, and i got a good computer, so it annoys me to no end. draconix12
I haven't had any crashes with my crappy 3 year old computer, but I listen to the system recommendations (very low). However, I have noticed that any new characters skins are white instead of slightly tanned like I like.
xDLGx
When I Googled for the epic fail that is 1.5 I found this post which I think is one of the better explanations for what Bethesda screwed up: http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/sh...p;postcount=
Akadai
What's said in that link is pretty much the only solution I've come across so far (changing mods to persistant). Not exactly sure what "save game bloat" is (if it's file size, I could care less). Not sure why persistant things would randomly disappear though. Just what would make them disappear like that? Is it part of the code that all persistant objects will disappear after a certain amount of time? Also as stated, most of the problems are mod related, which Bethsda doesn't really support. They're more on the "use at your own risk" sort of thing. However it is half thier fault. Mods were working perfectly fine up to 1.4. Suddenly 1.5 comes out, and it breaks a bunch of mods cause of something they changed for whatever reason It seems with every patch they come out with to fix something, it breaks something else. I'm half expecting it to happen again with 1.6, whenever that might be
xDLGx
Of course mods are unsupported and Bethesda are not supposed to test their patches with individual mods, but there is still no question that it's Bethesda's fault and that they screwed up. They've told people how to create mods, then they go update the game breaking all the mods that were made according to their own instructions. Understandable
Well i have not installed 1.5 patch yet, but do i have to install 1.5 to play broken steel or any of the DLC?
draconix12
Even though I've patched to 1.5, would it be possible to download and run 1.4 to go back to 1.4, and then use the fake patch and FO3 unofficial patch to have everything work out all right with the dlcs and the main game? No, the only way to go "back" to 1.4 is to reinstall and then patch "up" to 1.4. It's not as tough as it sounds.

No, the only way to go "back" to 1.4 is to reinstall and then patch "up" to 1.4. It's not as tough as it sounds. If you do a reinstall, it helps to delete all the registry keys as well; "Keep your Saved Games or move your last Save to a different folder".You can than install patch 1.0.0.xxxx and the archiveinvalidate stuff to offset the game problems.I prefer the FOMM along with FOSE and Quarns ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated! software instead of adding patch 1.4.xxx.When you restart load your save back into the new Saved Games folder, load it up, and do a save game right after you do. Than do a new "Load" run your new Save, and play the game. That is supposed to cause the new save to load all your installed stuff in the Reinstall, cleanly, so you wont have any minor conflicts from the old save that connects the old save to your old Fallout3.ini and the new save will be a clean load with your new Fallout3.ini.My OS is Vista Ultimate.
