Logging in problems and user videos

Hi can anybody help Ive started having logging in issues My browser is Microsoft edge recently on my pc Im asked to log in when going on the nexus site as you see hear no problem logging in using my iPad so this is a pc problem

With vortex turned on I am logged in and when going over to nexus it still asks me to log in on any log in attempts I get the checking if the site is secure message and the constant turning/loading icon

Users.nexus mods.com needs to review the security of your connection before proceeding any help would be helpful ~ my knowledge of tackling pc issues is very low -still a rookie

My second question is I normally upload showcase videos and I always see users videos on the mods page but mine never appear on there is there a reason to this?

Heyas Jay.

Mkay, so by "Login Issues" do you mean... the issue is that you're being asked to, a lot? Or that there's an issue with you being able TO login?

If it's the former, Picky has been posting that they'd been doing some work on the site recently. And it meant that some functions were being turned on and off during the process.

It wouldnt surprise me that logins would be a part of that.

I got that screen yesterday, and had to log in again. The screen is most likely just a bot protection measure. Either by Nexus itself, or by one of the connections that we go through before reaching Nexus. (Most likely the former, but I can't say for certain).

This was with Opera, btw.

As for user submitted media on mod pages. That is entirely dependent upon the mod author. As authors we have to approve anything that gets uploaded to the page, before it goes public on the page.

The media platform also matters. I know that youtube is what the site preference is, because of functionality that works with both sites. The mod pages, and the forums. So if you're using another host, that could be a part of it.

Thank you for your response I can get into the nexus site online but it won’t let me log in at all when doing it on my pc, I can log in by iPad so that’s not a problem, and vortex is linked with nexus and shows I’m logged in when I’m using vortex which will automatically take me to the mods page but then it’ll ask me to logi in so that’s my experience, on the user videos on the mods pages, you see videos that the modders have approved and used to highlight their mods there is also a section on that mods page that users such as me get to link their videos and you can see a whole list of videos uploaded by users. Now for me I’ve noticed none of mine appear in any of the mods I’ve made videos for, I have my own YouTube channel and right now I’m doing texture overhauls, So I’m wondering is this something I can’t see because I’m the maker and it’ll only appear for other users or as you said they all have to be approved by the mod author if that’s the case I’m being extremely unlucky as I guess none of the authors have seen my videos, I know some of the videos have been created for old mods so the authors may not be around anymore and I’ve created videos for mods that Authors don’t even have a video on their page so they might even benefit from the extra exposure, I guess I’m just being really unlucky, people are watching my videos on nexus though because I am seeing view counts and endorsements so that’s a good thing the more attention I can get out their for these authors the better it will be

Once again thank you for your reply

Hullo hullo!

Ok, maybe there is a problem with cached files, or your cookies, in your browser. If it's only being affected there on the PC.

I'm going to recommend that you flush your browser's cache (small memory files) and clear your cookies.

Now, however. Cookies are small data files. Once you delete these out, when you go to other sites, that require you to log in, you will need to do so. Because this will delete out the information that site has for you as a user.

Its nothing as serious as it sounds. Just expect to have to throw in your username and password. ;)

https://www.lifewire.com/clear-cache-microsoft-edge-4156806

It may also be some of the security settings in your browser. Have you messed with those at all, or are they running at the default settings?

I myself don't really know what settings are "required" here on the site, so if you've changed any of those, we may need somebody who knows more about the site itself to chime in.

I am willing to bet that we just need to install a new site cookie tho. Or that something that was in your cache (old javascript files usually) might be causing a hickup.

As for the videos. That's really cool. Congrats to you on your channel, and I wish you good luck!

The way that it works is that you submit your media by posting it to the page. Some authors *caugh* *caugh* don't check back on those notifications or that tab of their mods that often.... :whistling: So sometimes it might be days, weeks, even a month or so before I... er, we authors... check back into stuff like that.

Ok joking aside. Yeah, sometimes we just don't pay attention.

Ok, please don't take this wrong. I'm honestly saying this constructively. If the author doesn't give the approval to post the video you made. I would wait a while. Maybe a week. Especially now in the holiday season. But perhaps post a comment in the mod section, be very nice, polite, and friendly. Maybe something along the lines of "Hello 'authorname'. I'm working on building my YT channel, and I submitted a video to you, of a showcase that I did of your mod. Would you mind taking a moment to message me, and let me know what you think of my work? Share what you think I did right, maybe give me some input on what you think could be improved?"

This way, you're not outright asking them... "Why didn't you like my video?" And by asking them for their input, it makes them feel like they are contributing to the process.

I don't really think that you should direct message the authors tho. Some of them get bombed by a lot of hate, requests, invites for projects, all kinds of stuff. Their inbox blows up and they don't wanna deal with it.

Or they're antisocial and don't wanna answer mails. :whistling:

Thanks again so far nothing has worked cleared all cookies thought that might be the problem but no, even disabled all security still no joy, tried registering a new account using the same email just to see if I get a response and at least the automated warning msg recognizes that I have made some sort of attempt on the PC I did send a emails a few days ago but haven’t had a reply yet, it’s a gift that we have such a awesome community as you guys are more hands on and reachable so far I’m stuck on the user videos yepperz I kinda think that’s the way it is and I have stated to drop subtle hints on their pig’s I never directly contact authors as I’ve been on that end myself just not for Skyrim running a family having working and I think I was getting about 350 emails a day at one point for a project I was working on that’s the most extreme it ever got with me so I totally get it, as emergency back up plans I might have to go down the road of losing everything I have and staring up again on a new account or just restoring my pc but that’s extreme measures anyways thank you so much for your response being it’s the the holidays actually gave me a little time to look into this so It will be frustrating but having any response is liquid gold

Hi Jay!

Ugh, I am really sorry to hear that none of that helped to take care of the problem. :( :( :(

I wonder if it is a routing issue. What that means, is the path that your browser takes through the internet, from your computer, to the nexus site. Like driving down a highway from your house, to the next city.

Ok, here's something to try out. If you want to. And this is not permanent, you can always change it back to use the automatic settings, whenever you want to.

You might try setting up an established DNS, rather than using the default windows settings.

https://windowsreport.com/dns-server-1-1-1-1/

I'm also glad to hear that you're reaching out to the site. Make sure that the email that you're using is [email protected]

350 emails a day! Oh man. Yeah, that would drive me absolutely crazy!

As far as having to lose your account and start over. Don't think about that. Trust me. I have a very old account here, that is so old that I don't remember the password, or even the email address that I used at the time. And it was offered to be used, when I came back. Things can be worked out, even if it means changing some of the info on the account, like the password, and possibly the email address. As far as what they may have to do, that's a technical thing that I don't know about. But don't worry about losing your account.

As long as... you don't go doing something like creating a new account without talking to the staff. Multiple accounts for a single user is a big no no here, and is bannable. So yeah... don't do that! ;)

I also don't want you to think about having to reset your computer. That's a really drastic measure that isn't warranted for this kind of a situation. So stop that! ;)

Have you tried using a different browser?

I know that a lot of the site functionality is set up to work with Google Chrome. Myself I like a browser called Opera. Both are very modern, often updated browsers.

Hah, well I very much appreciate that Jay. Tho, I'm not being modest when I say that my published mods really aren't all that big of a deal. I only publish simple stuff that I know are pretty much maintenance free. ;) I do appreciate it tho.

Yeah, we do have a really awesome community here. Part of why I like the place so much :)

I'm afraid you posted your question Friday evening and, as we don't work weekends, we're only able to reply now: your issues have been noted and the webteam are looking into a couple of hiccoughs the site has had over the weekend today as a matter of priority. Please let me know if you're still having trouble.
