stars2heaven
Sorry that im double posting this, I posted it in the general forum first but I guess this forum was more appropriate for what it was for. Anyways... Maybe others feel the same way, but I find that playing a mage type character in oblivion to be rather unrewarding despite the fact that I love to play magic based characters in general. Its mostly because part of the fun in oblivion for me is finding a treasure in some deep dark dungeon that I can put to use. Unfortunately, most treasures out there are very melee oriented. My mage realy doesnt have much of a reason to go looking for loot since he can buy most of what he needs to be an effective mage. So Ive been thinking about some things that might be cool for someone to put into a mod that would provide extra incentive for pushing a little deeper into that dungeon if youre a mage. 1. First thought is obviously unique spells. Just like a warrior wants that new sword or bow a mage wants that spell. Finding nice spells that arent available through merchants could add a bit more of that 'spice' to a mages life Im looking for. 2. armor of course, but not just any armor and not just regular enchanted armor either which any melee character could make use of. Robes and mage type clothing that directly benefits a mage for being a mage. Unlike the light and heavy armor that benefits the more melee oriented charecter, mage oriented armor that derives its benefits from your skill in magic. Maybe intelligence, wisdom, or your particular skill level in one of the schools of magic, or more. 3. Weapons also, but like the amor, not weapons that just any character can make use of. Any warrior could make use of a good magic staff, but most mages couldnt get much use out of a good sword. I find that unfair in a way. Weapons and staffs that derive their potential in not so typical ways that directly benefit a character well schooled in the magic arts is what Im looking for. These are just some quickly thought up ideas. Anyone else have any ideas? Maybe therese something out there like this that Im not aware of. Tchos
I agree with Jefe in the other copy of this thread. Midas Magic is a pretty in-depth series of freeform quests, each of which ends with you getting unique new spells (actually recipes for making them), most of which don't exist in the vanilla game, if not all. And more such spells are able to be made first-thing using their special ingredients from the recipe books that are findable in the immediate area. It's a very rewarding mod for a mage. Tchos
Contrary to the previous poster's statement, cheating is not necessary to obtain the spells in Midas Magic.
