Raditation zones. Your opinion?

Thinking about adding random-generated radiation, chemical and biological hazard zones into my mod. And i want to know your opinion. Is it worth it? Or it's overkill? Maybe you think it's too hardcore?

There's amazing mod "Gas masks of the World" http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/49475 with lots of great gas masks, but...

So the bombs have dropped.
Radiation is everywhere.
Poisonous gases polluting the air.

Radiation is not everywhere, no gases in the air. And gas masks are simply useless.

It's too little. There were literally pockets of radiation everywhere in Fallout 3 and I really liked it because radiation was actually a threat to you, you could easily go from 0 to 1000 rads in a few irradiated locations so RadAway and RadX were not only useful, they were means to survive. Go for a swim? 100 rads. Go for a walk through DC ruins, 200 rads. Walk through a metro? 100 rads. Radio tower? Radiation. Random places in DC wasteland? Radiation. You needed to watch the rad-meter and keep RadAway and RadX handy so you don't keel over and die.

In New Vegas radiation is scarce and so weak I actually just end up going to a doctor, not because I can't find RadAway but because it's more cost effective to sell the 20 RadAways I found and pay 100 caps to a doc. Radiation just doesn't play that big of a role in NV as it did in FO3, and I can't say I like that much, it removes one aspect of the game I considered challenging. Camp Searchlight is the only place I actually found myself using RadX and RadAway, only because of the area's size and due to the fact that I wanted to search it thoroughly. Other than that, doc can do his magic.

Gas masks are useless against radiation unless they're designed for hazmat suits, in which case they can have radiation shielding in the lining, but they still don't work without a full suit. It could be a useful thing if Bethesda were to make the gas traps suffocate you, propane-butane is a gas that can easily induce suffocation and yet you can stand in a cloud of it for hours.

Aside from that, waves of high heat from nuclear weapons can disintegrate materials, and the resulting fumes can be toxic, but that only works if a bomb drops right this instant. So yeah, gas masks in a post-nuclear wasteland are pretty much useless without a full hazmat suit and/or a need to use one.
