Creating a custom race

I have created a custom race which has a cool concept I think. It does not work though. I start getting frustrated because I do everything what people tell me to do but nothing works. So I am looking for someone now who wants to join me and take a look at my mod and maybe has an idea how to solve my problems, someone who is experienced and has done this before.

 

I canot create a linked child and older race. Whenever I do that, I get a CTD when I close the character creation in my game when starting a new game. So obviously I am doing something wrong there although I do exactly what people tell me to do and there has been more than one telling me exactly the same thing. So I assume that people are right and I am too dumb t get it done for some reason. Or my game is dumb, I do not know.

 

Also everybody is talking about face presets but no one xplains to me what this is. Sorry, I am new to modding Fallout 3, what the hell is this? Anybody wanty to explan this - or better - do this to my race?

 

See, I created custom textures, I have spent hours on these textures and now I have spent hours to get this done and nothing works. I need someone who downloads my mod (it is hidden now but I can send a link to my file host, where it is also uploaded), takes a look at it and creates linked child and older races and dos this face preset thing. THis is all. I know - if someone knows what to do - that this does not even take a long time. Unfortuanetyl all I can offer for this is a big "Thank you" and credits in the readme.

 

This is my last try to rescue my little race project. If I do not find anyone who helps me out, I will delete it, but I actually do not want to as people seem to like what I have created - even though it is a buggy beta version, I got full ten points from 19 people already. So I really would like to offer them a working version.

I think I can help you right here

 

Presets: make at least a NPC of the new race in GECK & on the left side of the NPC edit window there's a checkbox with "is CharGen Face Preset" Check the box, save with race & repeat for other gender.

(Fallout 3 will crash if you don't have presets) <- probably what's crashing your game

presets are really just npc's who are set up so their faces can be shown in CharGen.

 

Child-adult linking: In the race window for the adult you should select the child version in the Younger race list & vice versa.

Yes, you were! No crashes any more so far and also the race has custom children and older peole now. Thank you! And kudos!
