Custom Race Help

I'm pretty new to the whole modding thing so bear with me if I seem a little bit out of the know.

I'm trying to use the Corean race mod to make a character, and I've installed it two or three different ways, none of which seem to be working. I've followed pretty much every ReadMe I could find, but it still doesn't work. (The race doesn't come up in the choice menu.) I got Ren's Mystical Elf race working, at least, but I'd much prefer using Corean.

I tried using the Mod Manager route as well as just putting the file into the Data folder, and then checking them off before starting the game up, but they still don't show.

Is there something I'm missing or doing wrong?

(Feel free to ask me questions, I'll answer regardless of how dumb they might make me sound, lol.)

All you need to do is install the textures and meshes for the race in the data folder. Make sure you have the proper ESP file in your data folder. Check the box to enable the ESP. It should work.

If you're using custom races make sure to use the Custom Race Fix

That's what I said I did, and it hasn't worked for me. Is there any way you could explain 'install' to me? I did as the readme said and extracted it into the data folder, and then even tried copy/pasting the textures folders, meshes folder and ESP file into the Data folder but none of that worked, either.

I'm pretty new to modding myself, but what I have going for me (that works) is obmm and obse.

I usually have to check obmm to load all of my omod files, then load the actual oblivion loader to make sure I have my esp files as well. After I check everything I want, then I use the obse to launch oblivion. I wish I knew an easier way to use obse and the oblivion launcher together, but for now this is working for me.

I'm also trying to create a really cool corean char and was wondering if anyone nows a good way to run a combination of ren + soya hair with the corean mod.

The most common reason for mods not showing up in game, if everything is installed correctly, is not having the latest Official patch. If you have Shivering Isles get the one for that only, not for Oblivion.

You need version 1.2.0.416 and be sure to get the one for your country or region.

Ren's is an older mod and worked before the latest patch but newer mods require a fully patched game.

Without the patch mods will still show up in OBMM or even the CS, but not in game.

You don't need to use the Oblivion launcher. If you have OBMM your esp files will be already active if you've checked the boxes, so there's no need to use the launcher. Just load the game with the OBSE exe. You can make a shortcut to it on the desktop for easier use.

Use OBMM to make sure your load order is correct though. You can also just load the game from OBMM and it will load OBSE. The first time you do this it gives you a message..can't remember what it is now but I always load my game via OBMM. I have several different characters and they all use different mods.

Click the Utilities button and you'll see Save Manager. Use that the sync your saves to the mods they use.

I've seen some people advise not to load via OBMM, but it always works for me with no issues. Otherwise just use the OBSE launcher.
