DartStriker
We all know who the Ayleid where, savage warlike people who where defeated by Empress Alessia during the first age, and slowly weeded to extinction by Imperial Elitists, and racial acts. Magical, and Mighty, the Alyieds have a far too interesting story to be such a side part of this already wonderful game. Ever since Vilvern, and then onto other ruins, I've wanted more. The books in-game give great accounts of the Alyied, but there isn't much else aside from a few item collecting quests. Here is my proposal.A Quest, dealing with the a young elf's quest to find out the real story of the Alyeid's demise. What if the Alyeid weren't as savage and warlike as history and lore speak of? What if they where fairly peaceful people, adept in the arts of magic and science, yet living harmonious with nature and abiding by their own religious system outside of The Nine? This is what I have so far: Alyieds, in case you aren't to keen on their history, where the 'wild,' 'warlike' ancestors of modern day Cyrodiil. They where conquered by the legion of imperials, and triumphantly overthrown in the sake of The Nine, and the Empire. At least, that is how the legend of these heretics goes. They wielding 'dark' magic, and enslaved humans for their bidding. But what if that is all hype made up by the Elder Council to justify their manifest destiny to conquer Cyrodiil? What if this infamous race was a peaceful one, living in the harmony of magic, science and nature? Although they don't, or didn't rather, warship the Nine Divine, the Ayleid had but one Creator, and worshiped the world they lived in? A religion of life and nature. Building cities and monuments to their hero's and the world they lived in, only to have them crumble at the hands of the Imperials. Imperials, the outspoken, waring 'leaders' of Tamriel, the humans, raided their land, pillaging their cities and out casting them over many years, much like the Native American's of our world. An Aylied researcher, Datyr Reids, plans to find out the truths after finding an ancient carving scribed by the dying race. A desperate last account to share the truth about their race's fall. What will his research uncover? Discover it as you work with him to see dark conspiracies by the Elder Council, and the extinction of a great people. Well, that's the treatment, what I have for the quest so far as a story and concept goes. The last few days I have been working out the nitty-gritty bits. Here they are: Magicka -It's common knowledge in Aylied study that they where adept in the arts of Magick. Learn the truth about Varla and Welkynd stones, and the school of Mysticism, the most mysterious of all the Magick schools known to Tamriel. Also learn about Soul Gems, and Geomancy. One of the things that fascinates me about the Ayleid is their use of crystals, they are everywhere which shows an affinity for natural substances, rather than man-made (or mer) things. Science -Learn how the Ayleid where able to build such advanced architecture that has withstood over two millennium. Find out more about why they had such elaborate traps and secret passages, and breath life into the mysterious ruins scattered across Cyrodiil. Some Lore Reference from In Game, with my own interpretation added: The Fall of the Last Kind (In Game Book)The fall of White Gold Tower, in 1E, 243 marked the end of the Aylied's rain of Cyrodiil. Alessia, later the first Empress, took advantage of civil war between Ayleid Lordship. Skyrim, having some personal affairs with the Ayleid civilization, due to slavery of their people, helped in the Imperial conquest. Alessia also had help from rebel Aylied lords during the seige of White Gold Tower. After the fall of the Aylied, lords several of their princes where granted permission to rule parts of Cyrodiil as vassals of the new Empress. The capitol Ayleid City would from now on be known as the Imperial City. This after 1E, 263. (What this shows it that they weren't complete savages, and where actually not completely detested.) Ayleid where found in Cyrodiil up untill 1E 498. (The period between 243 - 498 is known as the 'Late Aylied Period') In the 300's a group of anti-racial elitists known as the Alessian Order was formed. Their most outspoken member, Maruhk. This group destroyed Ayleid settlements one by one over the years following. Following their success in diluting the Ayleid population, the Alessian Order gained enough political pull to have the Alessian Doctrines signed. This would be the first anti-racial law in Cyrodill, and it's goal was obviously to untie the influence of whatever Ayleid culture was left from the Empire. (1E 361) By this time, the remaining Ayleid population began to flee Cyrodill due to the growing oppression their race was facing. They fled as refugees into the other provinces, namely Valenwood and Highrock, slowly being absorbed into the population. Dtrenni Hegemony may be linked to the exodus of the Ayleid. The last king of the Ayleid joined in the battle of Glennumbria Moors, where the Direanis defeated the Alessians in 482. There where no monuments for this hero, or tales of lore. But it is very possible Nenalate is the final resting place of this king. --- Further study on The Elderscrolls Wiki: King Eplear of Valenwood, ruler of the Camoran Dynasty welcomed the Ayleid's with open arms. As the Alyeid in Valenwood dissolved into it's population of mainly Bosmer, they became a new race. Possibility of adding Ren's Mystic Elf into the picture (To give them some lore, I think they are neat. I'd have to get the OK from Ren, but that is if this even takes any interest) Well, that is all I have for now. I'll continue to do my homework and pull in as much lore as I can for this quest. Please leave your comments and thoughts, I'd love to hear what other's think. I'm currently researching on how to mod as well, but would love to get a team together and hopefully make something out of this. Thank you for reading. TheNick93
That truly is an awesome idea....I'm making a mod now which is teaching me, maybe eventualy I'll be good enough to try to work on this.. :ninja: ;)
Slawter500
Hmmm not bad, " The winners of a war write the wars history" It could of just been EC trying to make it look like they conquered a powerful race when all they actually did was slaughter a peaceful society. How do you propose that you figure out the truth? Why does the young elf suspect that there's more to the ayleids than meets the eye? Would you bring the evidence of the ayleids true story to tamriel?Or would you let them continue to believe what they've always believed? If you do bring the evidence to tamriel what exactly is the evidence? Im not currently able to mod, i have revision to do,and empires glory to work on, but if in 4 weeks no one starts to mod this i might give it a go, however im not going to pretend im a top flight modder, I'm terrible at meshes and useless with animation, im fairly handy with CS, and can do very basic texturing(i wouldnt recommend asking me for that though. I might give it a go after ive done my part for my Empires Glory mod and finished my revision, however I suggest that you wait for a more experienced modder, i might give it a go if none take interest, please remember might as im pretty much always busy. DartStriker
TheNick93 -Thanks for the compliment. :) I'm happy to see people actually found this interesting. Again, thanks for the interest. Let me get to answering your questions, which by the way, are fantastic. Things I never though about, or didn't think to put in my original post. 1. How do you propose that you (The character) figure out the truth?First of all, the character will need to initiate the quest, and it seems a bit clique in my opinion to have him/her find a book. Instead, that is where this elf comes into play. Finding him will initiate the quest. Probably exploring a ruin, or in a town/inn seeking a adventurer to help him with his goal. This will start it off as the character playing a bodyguard of sorts. Helping dispatch undead/bandits/whomever may be occupying the first ruin that is chosen to explore. Discovering evidence of these happenings to help get stuff rolling. 2. Why does this young elf suspect that there is more to the Aylied history?Well, I had it set in my head that his grandfather's father was a decedent of the Aylied, and that he has heard the stories past down from generations. (Not sure where the elf would be from, but probably Valenwood.) So, growing fascinated with his grandfather's story, he decides to set out for the truth and comes to Cyrodiil. Here he comes to the destination where the character and him will meet, and discover a lead to the nearby ruin. Where the quest will start. 3. Would you bring the evidence forward in Tamriel?Possibly, I guess that all comes down to if yourself, or another decides to help me take up this mod, and the serious planning is underway. Now that I know people are interested I'm going to do much more homework on the lore, and figure out some good sturdy chunks of this thing. It could be a choice thing, where in the end you decide what Tamriel should know. 4. What exactly is the evidence?Probably something large, dealing with Alessia or the Last King of the Ayleids' tombs. I mean, a truth like this would rock the world of Nirn I would assume. And also, I don't think many 'new' objects textures, etc... would need to be made for this quest. Just some NPCs, and perhaps a few artifacts and writings. (But in all, things that are readily available in game)
