Mouth missing

As the title says, the mouths of every humanoid mesh is missing. my game has been like this for as long as I can remember, and l have no idea what caused it to happen. I haven't tried to do anything to fix it yet, and it even persists to custom races as well. I can see the inside of the head models through the empty mouths and it's starting to get worrying. If anyone knows a fix to my problem, please help.

To get help, you probably need to:

 

1. Post what version of Skyrim you are running,

2. include what mod manager you are using, and SKSE version, if using either/both

3. post your Load Order (LO) - use copy/paste to place it in a spoiler.

(the third icon from top left, scroll down to spoiler, paste it there)

 

 

FWIW, may just probably be you have loaded body mods that conflict with each other. Give the information to help find the exact problem.

This can be caused by either:

Missing/incorrect .nif or .tri file for the mouth head parts, or missing/bad texture.

 

I would first try and get it back to vanilla. Use SSEEdit to see if anything under Skyrim.esm/HeadPart section, overloads (Female)MouthHumanoidDefault. If anything does, uninstall it.

Check the .nif and .tri paths mentioned in the HeadPart. See if you actually have those files. (typically under Data/meshes/actors/character/character assets/mouth).

If you got anything there, move these files to some other location.

Also, go to Data/textures/actors/character/mouth, and move any files there elsewhere.

Next, when you try to deploy the mods, your mod manager should alert you that some mods files have been manually deleted. Make a note of which mods those files are from, but for now, confirm the deleteions.

At this point, with mesh/morph/texture files not longer there, it should fall back to using meshes/textures from Skyrim .bsa's

 

Once you restore vanilla, you can try reinstalling texture mod that includes mouth textures, and also expressive facegen morphs.

Doesn't look like there is anything overloading it, except for the file FemaleEyesHumanVampire and MaleEyesHumanVampire, but I know for sure those are not the cause.

I have verified the files many times and they come out fine

 

The 'Apply Filter to Show Conflicts' doesn't show anything wrong with the head files what so ever

 

I have already tried disabling and reenabling those mods and nothing has changed

 

Checking the LL forms totally passed my mind, so I'll check there later

 

I've seen the posts as well, which is why I came asking here.

Do you have any character makeovers that only replace textures and meshes (and no plugin)? If one of those types are overwriting something, it won't show up in xEdit, as it won't be loaded to check...

And there is the problem. the files for the mouth is completely gone, so that's good to know. Now I just need to restore the files and I'll be good to go! Now, how do I do that again? '- ~ -

 

Edit: looking into the files further, I'm starting to notice that a lot, and I mean a LOT of files are missing. I can try to do a full uninstall and reinstall, but the few times that I did do that it didn't help, so that's fun.

No, this is not a problem. Vast majority of resource files are NOT in subfolders under Data - they are in .bsa archive files.

You can use BSA extractor utility to examine and (if needed) unpack them.

 

Many larger mods that have a LOT of files also pack most of their resources into bsa's. If mentioned directories are empty, and nothing overloads the mouth head parts in Skyrim.esm, one potential isuue is these files are in some other mod bsa, overriding those of Skyrim...
