LewdFerrigno Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 So I bought a new PC a couple months back (haven't had a good gaming capable one in like 4-5 years) and have been catching up on Skyrim (played it on 360 since it was my only option at the time) and my good old Total War games.Oh my great googly moogly. Modding this game is a whole new experience and I've had a blast the last couple days adding monsters, weapons, houses, physics, blood, etc. I have NMM and all of this goes terribly easy thanks to it. NMM is a huge help. Mods and sites like this are why I'm glad I'm no longer exiled to Console Land anymore. Console gaming is Duplo blocks in a pre-school compared to PC's Lego Land.A few things confuse me though being a relative noob to Skyrim modding, and perhaps some of you might be kind enough to help me out.- CBBE, BBP, UNP, Sevenbase... LOL! Which nekkid wimmins are the ones for me? Does cherryhotaling's (sorry if I misspelled that but I'm lazy) BBP mod work with UNP sevenbase etc? Currently I got Caliente's CBBE mod and BBP installed. (I know I need specific armor or armor replacer mods for each type... I think I know that anyways)- UNP stuff conflicts with the official HD texture packs in all cases? I see a fix page on nexus but is it necessary?- Load order. What is it? General advice?- Also I'd like a good environment/water texture pack. What do you grizzled mod veterans recommend? Well mods you recommend in general. As long as it isn't terribly immersion breaking I'll probably try it.

Don't have any advice on the body replacers, but: 1. Load orders - Mods are loaded one after another by the game. There is a definite order in which the mods should be loaded. Some mods depend upon others being loaded BEFORE them, some mods work by being loaded AFTER other mods. (Is that the same thing?  ) Loadorder is determined by a list of mods in the text file "plugins.txt". The order of the mod files in plugins.txt determines your game's "loadorder". Skyrim sets plugins.txt to the order you select from the game launcher Data Files option. Mods are loaded from Top-to-Bottom on the Data Files screen. You can move a mod in the loadorder by selecting it and using the "Up" and "Down" arrow buttons on the Data Files screen. There are ways to help ensure the correct order. Read and follow the mod instructions. Get BOSS, it will try to automatically sort your mod file loadorder and works very well. 2. Env/water mods - Start with the S.T.E.P. mod suggestions. LewdFerrigno Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 Got BOSS and I see this coming in handy. Also probably going to get w.a.t.e.r. (the most apt mod name ever?).So BOSS says I need TES5Edit cleanings? Oh man. A 20 minute video on how to do that... maybe later :)Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Lord Garon Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Got BOSS and I see this coming in handy. Also probably going to get w.a.t.e.r. (the most apt mod name ever?). So BOSS says I need TES5Edit cleanings? Oh man. A 20 minute video on how to do that... maybe later  Thanks for the suggestions guys. Most BOSS-flagged "dirty" edits (ITM, UDR) are not that serious and may never cause you an issue, though cleaning them can never hurt. That said, TES5EDIT is probably the most useful tool ever written for Skyrim modding. D\L it and when you get bored or frustrated with playing, fire it up and follow a YouTube tutorial. You don't even have to DO anything (save any changes). Just playing around with TES5EDIT can teach you a lot about mods and how they work in your game. BOSS and TES5EDIT are two of my three main Skyrim mod tools, the third being Wrye Bash (something else to think about D/Ling and playing with). I'm not trying to sell anything here, just trying to give you a head's up on future problems you might run into with mods. Look at all the problem threads in this forum. In my experience, 90% of Skyrim "issues" are caused by improper mod installations and incompatible mods. Learning how to identify the causes will prevent a LOT of frustration. The majority of remaining problems are from bad INI file edits (unsolicited advice: don't change your INI files unless its for a known bug fix).
