garekman
Hi there. I have been trying to edit the gameplay settings and races files to change the starting skill levels and progression, as well as to make initial PC stats to go at specified values different than the vanilla 100. And while I think the skill progression has effectively been changed, my other goals have not been fulfilled. I am aware it's a big community and a pain in the back to have newbies constantly asking things for themselves, but I would truly be thankful for any word of advice. Like, do I need to start learning scripting in order to change this parameters? I know there are several mods that do to some extent similar things to what I want, and I have been searching for tutorials and info for a few hours to no avail. So, yeah, won't make it any longer. If you can help me, even if pointing to me in the right direction, thanks a bunch.
garekman
Alright, how do I say this without looking stupidly dumb and impatient? It's done. I spent some more time twinkering with the gameplay settings in the ck, and even though I'm pretty sure I didn't change anything supposedly related to skills, now, out of the blue, all of them are level 5 (which is what I set them to a few days ago). But I swear, I tried going in game several times only to see they were level 15, as usual. So still a little help would be appreciated. Now, stats are still going weird places, but who know, maybe eventually I will figure it out. Anyway, the question remains, I would rather someone reassures me on what I'm doing rather than being all too happily changing what I think may work. Thanks anyway. Edited: Despite having tweaked the gameplay settings, it appears that stats 'health', 'stamina' and 'magicka' they all get a +50 bonus by default somehow, so my way to correct it, so far, has been by substracting said amount from the corresponding race files. This means some races, for instance, Argonians, now have a health of -10. Remains to be seen if this will or will not cause trouble somewhere else (I'm guessing it will, but who knows). garekman
Thanks! That way I can try and see how they managed to do it and learn how to mod it myself. Appreciated!
