LE Unequipped weapons while wielding spells

Hello everybody,

 

I am mostly playing in third person and an issue thats bugging me a lot is that Skyrim only displays weapons on your character that you have equipped. Especially when switching a lot between weapons and spells it feels really stupid.

 

Examples:

 

I use a two-handed weapon and run into a very dark cave. So I switch to a torch or light spell and as long as they are equipped the two-handed weapon is not on my back anymore.

 

Currently I am playing a vampire mage character and I find the vampire armor just looks way better when you have a one handed weapon equipped on your side. However as I am mostly wielding spells in both of my hands the weapon is not displayed unless I reequip it again. But seriously who really wants to do that all the time.

 

 

 

 

I know this is not an big issue at all, just a little aestethic flaw. However I am wondering if there is any mod out there that can fix this.

There are 2 ways to deal with this...

One is using "Armed to the Teeth" mod. It will do exactly that.... Your weapons will remain on your body even when you are not using them.

 

 

Another way is by editing your skyrim.ini file (it's under "my documents/ my games / skyrim")

Just add this line "bDisableGearedUp = 0 " (without quotes), and the game will keep all your favorited weapons on your body.


I personally prefer doing the second way, so I don't have to bother with patching the game every time I download some weapon mod or even compatibility issues with other mods.

HOWEVER (everything has a however)....

"bDisableGearedUp = 0 " has a little bug, when you change weapons (or spell) without unsheathing your previous weapon, both models will appear on your hand.

So you'll have to grow used to sheathing your weapons before switching to another.

thanks a lot this helped a great deal. Am using the .ini line you've given me. The unsheathing bug doesn't appear by just switching spells and only occurs when combining it with a weapon. As I just want to have the sword hanging by my side and never actually use it, this is perfect. For my two-handed char I guess I have to get used to it, but no big deal.
