I downloaded this on Tuesday evening as it seemed a "good" idea.....Maybe my registry is now clean but its broken skyrim and FNV seemingly beyond repair. I`ve reinstalled both from disc and steam but the game still constantly crashes, anyone any ideas? a whole bunch of tech guys have tried to fix it but they seem stuck, anything like this happened to anyone else?

Registry cleaners are very risky to use. Really they require you to have a very good understanding of your computer and the files/functions in your registry.

A quality registry cleaner will create a backup of your original so that in the case of mistakes you can revert to the original files. However, even if your program has this (I am not familiar with the program you mention,) I think that your reinstallations of the game have sealed the coffin on your current character/savegame.

I am sorry to say it but I think there is no hope for your old save games, and you will need to start a new game, and also probably reinstall any supporting software as well.

I would suggest using the STEP guide to revert to vanilla skyrim, so that you will not have to worry about remnants of your old game causing problems as you start anew. (also this might be causing the crashes on the new install.)

After doing that, the below might help: (also contains link to the STEP Guide)

I personally always use ccleaner to clean my registries and temp files etc which does allow you to create a back up beforehand in case something goes wrong. I generally use it to clean my pc every 1-2 weeks and have NEVER had a problem with it nor have I had to use a back up to restore the registry after cleaning it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Its easily one of the best/safest cleaning programs I have ever used!

Also, its FREE!
