Urgannagru
Sorry if this question has been asked before but not having much luck with the search function. But I was wondring if there is anyway to work with .nifs in 3ds max 7 as the plug-ins only seem to work for earlier versions which I don't have access to. Alternatively are there any free trials around as google isn't turning anything up, or is it possible to buy ealier versions at cut down prices now theyre obsolete, although to be honest I cant find any full priced one either way. Peregrine
Unfortunately, no, the export plugin does not work with the newer versions of 3dsmax. And no, you won't find any free trials of the older versions, as they all would've been replaced by the trial of the newest version. There isn't much demand for obsolete software like that. You might be able to find an old version for sale somewhere, but it's not very likely, and it's even less likely you'd get one with an unused cd key. Your only real choice is to download an illegal version of one of the old ones. Probably 3dsmax 3, just to be sure you've got the most obsolete, uncared for copy you can find. Legal copies just don't exist anymore, and it's questionable if they even support the authorization system anymore to register it. And since you've already paid for a copy of the newest version, it's not like they're losing any money...

Abramul
There is a 30 day free trial on Discreet's site. However, they told me that they didn't have any knowledge of a .NIF converter, so for that you might tryNDL (the makers of the NetImmerse engine) or follow up on this post on the TurboSquid forum fora. (Turbo Squid is the site the customer support folks at Discreet recommended I try)
Peregrine
The problem is the 30 day trial is of 3dsmax 7, which he already has. The .nif export plugin only works with 3 or 4 (and maybe 5?).
