chaptmc2
I have been trying to add new sounds to the GECK (Not dialogue, new sounds for weapons) and whenever I press the button to add a new sound, nothing happens, No menu opens to give me a choice, nothing. It sits there stuck on stupid :wallbash: . I have uninstalled and Re-Installed both Fallout 3 and the Geck and updated the GECK to 1.5, but that didnt fix anything. I am running wiht Windows Vista Home Premium (I blame it, because it caused all my other GECK problems before). Any ideas on what is wrong here? The files are in a 22 khz 16 bit Mono PCM Format, and they are for weapons, not dialogue, but what good is having the sounds if you cant even add them? If nobody knows a resolution to this, can I at least have somebody do a request for me? For me to send somebody with a version of the GECK that accpets sound files the sond files and for them to create a .esp with the added sounds? Deleted1084753User
Random question: where do you have the game installed? Vista is tricksy if you install the game to the default location. I know it screws up dialogue, but not sure what other side effects it could have. Anyway, if you have it installed to the default directory, try installing to somewhere else (C:\Fallout 3 or whatever). I'm going to bed now, but if you try that and it doesn't work (or if you're already using a custom install location) then I guess I could create an .esp for you tomorrow. Send 'em to radiosity AT narcess DOT NET. One other minor thing before you do that though; have you tried manually creating the sound entries using FO3Edit? It's an incredibly useful program for when the GECK is being stupid (which is quite often obviously heh).

Didnt know it existed. Let me try that after I deal with somethign that is goign to take a bit. I'll let you know how that works.
chaptmc2
Update. Vista basically gave me the finger again. FO3Edit cannot find fallout.ini, and I did a computer search and its not on my machine. At this point I need a request. I either need somebody using XP to send me fallout.ini in a PM or somebody using XP to take these six sound files, create folders to get the following result to put them in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data\Sounds, create a .esp with the six sounds added from that location, and send that .esp to me, so I can combine it with another plugin, and overrule Vista's pain-in-the-rear-end ways. May somebody help me by doing either of the two, or tell me hwo to get FO3Edit to find and recognize the fallout.ini file that it and I cannot find? Update, fixed that bit of a problem. For some reason, Fallout.ini was named as Fallout_default.ini when it was installed. Lets try this now.
chaptmc2
It worked. Dunno why I have to use a program to bypass another program, but I guess as long as there are good results, I can be happy :thanks: . kudos for you.
Deleted1084753User
Fallout_default.ini is meant to be named that, it's the fallback that the game creates a new .ini from if the ones in My Documents are deleted for some reason. If you've installed the game fresh for some reason, you won't have any ini files until you start the game for the first time, this creates the ini files in My Documents which are the ones that FO3Edit will look for. And if you DO have those ini files... well, I can only assume more Vista idiocy :)
