[SSE] "The Cause" quest is filled with plot holes.

The Cause quest is terrible. You follow the trail and find the oblivion gate. Enter the oblivion kill two bosses and then leave.

Problems:
The vigil of Stendarr are really weak to the cultists.
The gate is secured by Vigil of Stendarr. The plot says an invasion army is waiting.
The gate is still open. The VOS are no match for the hordes of Daedra that should be coming.

The gate needs to closed or some ritual to keep the the enemies out, but not you, based on the stone you found.

 

Like finding the pieces of the sigil stone and reassembling them to use with the great welkind stone to seal the gate. Some plot based on the lore of the oblivion crisis.
