ENB help

hey :smile:

just wondering, but is ENBoost in the latest ENB binaries? i dont know because i cant find anything on it, but ive heard that it is already with the latest version of the ENB binaries, so theres no need for ENBoost...
is it true?

the reason im asking is because i want to play skyrim again, but cant, because, with ENBoost installed, SKSE installed, and no mods, im getting massive fps drops to the point of unplayability (17 - 20 fps on the Bethesda loading screen, which is odd (ENBoost is installed) compared to 58 - 60 fps (ENBoost is not installed), and in game, im getting somewhere between 0 - 30 fps with ENBoost installed (some areas are getting 5 - 8 fps), but i dont know what my fps is with ENBoost not installed.)

so yeah, anyone know?

also, my game is on steam, up to date and with all dlc

i also have 2 and a half GB of VRAM, so could that cause the fps issues?

thanks :smile:

The latest binaries from enbdev.com "support" ENBoost.

You also need the ENBoost file from the Nexus. (or, you need to edit the existing enblocal.ini file. But, to say you have or don't have ENBoost, you should actually get ENBoost from the Nexus and use the enblocal.ini file it contains. It will reduce confusion later on.)

Install the binaries first, then replace the existing enblocal.ini with your system's ENBoost enblocal.ini. (Open the ENBoost archive with 7-zip or whatever and find the enblocal.ini which matches your setup. Copy it to your Skyrim directory and overwrite the one in there.) I'm not sure what you mean when you say "ENBoost installed" and "ENBoost not installed". Are you changing the enblocal.ini file or totally removing the binaries?

I can guarantee you that a properly installed ENBoost will NOT lower FPS like that. I had to to force v-sync back on; ENBoost caused my FPS to go over 150FPS indoors and stuff just launched all over the place or "rattled" in place. The HAVOK physics system in Skyrim really doesn't like more than 60 FPS, so if your mods aren't keeping FPS low, turn v-sync back on.

It "sounds" like the default enblocal.ini from the ENB Series (binaries) installation is still active and NOT the ENBoost enblocal.ini.

In my ENBoost enblocal.ini:

UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=true

In my RealVision ENB:

UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=false

This setting determines whether the binaries will implement any graphics processing or not. ENBoost tells you that graphics processing is off. There are other differences as well. It may be "woven in", but ENBoost is not totally activated, even in the default enbseries enblocal.ini.

Im having the exact same problem, but nowhere near as drastic. My fps lower to 20-25 with enboost installed.

When you start skyrim, the ENB info appears in the upper left corner during the load screen, then another message appears. Either:

... the "Press SHIFT ENTER..." message in yellow text

or

... the "PATCH SPEEDHACK ENBoost..." message in red text

If you're not seeing the red text message, you do not have the ENBoost enblocal.ini file.

For some reason im not seeing the enboost red message, means that im just installing then enb and that reduces my fps then.

Am i supposed to just put the enboost file in my skyrim folder with the other enb files?

Also, i do not have a file to replace with the one that enboost provides for some reason.

1. For some reason im not seeing the enboost red message, means that im just installing then enb and that reduces my fps then.

2. Am i supposed to just put the enboost file in my skyrim folder with the other enb files?

3. Also, i do not have a file to replace with the one that enboost provides for some reason.

1. That's what I would guess.

2. No. The ENBoost archive you downloaded contains a collection of enblocal.ini files tailored to different installs and video cards. All you want from the ENBoost archive is one enblocal.ini file. You need to open the archive, select the enblocal.ini file you need (the archive directories are pretty self-explanatory) and copy or drag it to your Skyrim directory. Or, extract the archive somewhere else, then find and drag the file you need over to your Skyrim directory.

3. A little worrisome. Boris' instructions say to extract all the files from the enbseries version you want into your Skyrim directory. Remember, you only want the CONTENTS of either InjectorVersion OR WrapperVersion extracted to the Skyrim folder (and NOT to the Data folder where mods go). Both the Injector and Wrapper versions contain an enblocal.ini, the file you should be replacing. A missing enblocal.ini could indicate a bad enbseries install. You might want to re-install the enbseries version files to the Skyrim directory again to make sure the install is okay. Then put the enblocal.ini from ENBoost into the Skyrim directory.

I got a FPS boost by using the ENBoost ini that matched my video card's memory - 1gb-6gb (4gb card). I'm using the Performance And Realistic ENB with ENBoost 4. Before I switched to the non-Boost file, my FPS dropped into the 20s. Now I'm getting 40s and up in most places. It shot up to 120 at first, but then as I moved settings up to Meduim and High, it dropped to about 60.

I'm also using SMIM and Tamriel Reloaded For ENB, so that's bringing it down some.

I think it could be that i downloaded an older version of enb that does not support enboost.

Ok, found the correct version, now it loads, but i still have decreased performance, specially if i turn on v sync.

Seems like this mod is hurting my performance more than improving it.

Im also experiencing massive stuttering on opening menus.
