youBlackEmporer
I personally prefer Telvanni for the original architecture, wizardry, and strong anti-imperial vibe, plus they're badass. I'm a Dunmer, currently a Telvanni Mouth in my new file. So how about all of you? Forgive me if this has been done before, I searched briefly and found nothing. Dradum_Fairoak
Well I've never tried Redoran, interestingly. But what I found with Telvanni is that they treat you like an errand boy for a little too long for my liking (deliver someone's clothes? Give me a break). So I had to wipe out all those councillor guys in Sadrith Mora. After that there was really nothing for me to do. In my current game I joined Hlaalu, its a lot more fun, better quests earlier on such as investigating the murder of Ralen Hlaalo. Still a couple of delivery quests but I don't mind one or two. Thing is that the House Hlaalu required stats seem to lean heavily towards being a thief, whereas my guy is basically a battlemage. Major stats are Long Blade, Blunt Weapon, Heavy Armor, Destruction and Restoration so its hard for me to get advancement even though I've completed all of Edryno Arethi (?)'s quests. Still need to rise a rank or two before Curio will take me on...going to need a lot of training. So yeah, Hlaalu is my favourite thus far. One day I'll attempt Redoran. Crim, The Red Thunder
*sigh* I remember the days when these threads would get 40-50 complex posts from vets every day... now after the forums merged, they're all gone... *sigh* The forums are dying... anyway, i prefer Telvanni, because i'm an isolated loner like them. (Look at Divayth Fyr, and how far he is from civilization if you don't think they like isolation. For that matter, only a mage good at levitation could reach a telvanni wizard... and you have WAY more quests then you need in order to become head of a guild. Downside to Telvanni, their archmagister quest sucks, since you will have already done it in the main story by the time you want to be archmagister... I don't like redoran, and I HATE hlaalu, but i use the joinallhouses mod, so i join them all anyway, especially with my god-like characters. (which i EARN... usually.) I hate theif characters, because im the hothead who charges into the final boss with a silver dagger... :cool2: so i don't make the worlds best theif... marksman is good though... but hlaalu quests are nice, simple, and easy to take care of, short of actually getting where you are going... i HATE redoran's first quest, but after that, i enjoy being a fighting-type character... But by far, the telvanni are all around likable, and by joining them you get to use all the stores and inns and whatnot that are around the eastern part of the land. Plus, Telvanni are all a bunch of little ***wipes unless you join... But, you don't HAVE to do all those delivery quests... soon as you become a mouth you can get work from all the councilors in their towers, and master aryon's quests. (Do his mouth's work first...) that makes telvanni a LOT better. And if you don't complete all the mouth's work, you can keep the artifacts you find for them... which aren't have bad, as easy unique items go... Chaosmaker
I would go with Redoran.... 1- I'm not to fond of magic2- I really am terrible at stealth (Can't steal or pick for my life)3- Their armor is awesome!!!
Malchik
Even in the heady days of MWmania 40-50 posts was improbable. And this thread topic has been done many times in the past so those of the VETs still with us probably won't see the need to answer. Those of you who are newer to the forums here is your chance. But why stick with one house? Use 'pcjoinfaction' and you can get to be in charge of all three! Personally I thought delivering the skirt to Therana was about the only interesting mouth quest there is for the Telvanni. Especially when the Khajiit I've just freed gets to put it on! BTW killing off the Telvanni councillors is a mages guild quest, and assassinating Mistress Therana a Morag Tong 'grey' writ. You get high rewards for both so don't kill them off unnecessarily! Dradum_Fairoak
Why not kill them unnecessarily? Surely it doesn't matter, and when you get those quests you'll just have to mention the topic twice in a row to get the rewards?
Crim, The Red Thunder
You don't HAVE to use pcjoinfaction. Get the mod titled "joinallhouses" (which is what i use) and it lets you not only join all the factions, but become the grandmaster of them all as well. YEAH!!! (It's a poor substitute for betraying all 3 great houses for one of your own making, but it'll do till that mod gets finished...)And it should be worth mentioning that the artifacts mentioned in the telvanni mouth quests and some of the artifacts for the counciloors are needed in the museum in tribunal. Furthermore, (excuse me for rambling, i play WAY too much with telvanni and the mages guild) you don't HAVE to do the quest in the mages guild to kill the telvanni councilors, or the telvanni mouths, or anything else. You can become grandmaster of everything + 1 great house, even without mods. IT requires some VERY careful playing, and the trickiest part is the theif/fighter guild combo... second trickiest is which great house to play, as all 3 have quests that can potentially cause problems with other guilds. telvanni and mages guild is an example. i don't know specific examples for the others though. BTW... Staff of the silver dawn is surprisingly useful at a low level...
SilvuruAgnost
I really like Hlallu becouse i consider myself as a great thief. + i like the Imperial type of style. But the greatast faction to join is Morag Tong!!!!

You can become grandmaster of all three great houses using the pcjoinfaction command if you don't have the mod. There are only two conflicts Odirniran (Hlaalu/Telvanni) and Shishi (Redoran/Telvanni). If anyone has a problem with resolving it so both houses accept what you've done, PM me. There are no other conflicts as such although some quests can arise from two sources (fighters guild/thieves guild; imperial cult/morag tong; thieves guild/morag tong). Sometimes you can kill off a character in one quest you need for another (Drinar Varyon in the Imperial Legion Quest is also needed in House Hlaalu for instance) but that can apply to any unnecessary killing. There are two significant traps to avoid. Doing the Code Book quest for the Balmora fighters guild will prevent you from joing the Thieves guild later on. So join the Thieves guild before you do that quest. If you join house Redoran it is easy to get expelled when doing various quests for the Thieves Guild (Redoran Masters Helm, Boethiah's Pillow Book, Darts of Judgement) and the Morag Tong (writ for Guril Retheran). As you can only be readmitted once it's a good idea to finish Ald Ruhn's thieves guild quests before joining Redoran or, if you do get expelled, complete the others before you ask to be readmitted. Crim, The Red Thunder
the answer to that problem would be the 'joinallhouses' mod. It's what i use and when that quest comes up, it spawns the npc so you can kill them. (those are the other stronghold owners, right?) thus allowing you to do ALL the quests. But you can still get all 3 strongholds! (which is nice)
