villevalo
I believe I have done this before, but it has been years since I messed with Morrowind. I need to know how I can edit the morrowind.esm master file so my plug-ins actually become part of the master file. Please let me know. Thanks. loveme4whoiam
Erm, i wouldnt recommend doing that. I don't have a huge amount of experience with the TESCS, but i think that if you did that, then uploaded the file for other people to download, it would create a very large rooster-up in other peoples games, commonly known as a dirty file. Of course, i could be completely wrong. To actually edit the master file, i assume you would have to load it up as you normally do to create a new plug-in. I suppose you would have to save the whole thing, including your changes, as a seperate file, but i dont know if the TESCS has the capacity to do that. Why do you need to alter the master file anyway? Wouldn't a plugin achieve whatever changes you need to make?
upia
Couldnt you just merge al your active plug-ins, wouldnt that then solve the problem, but then you would have all your plug-ins as one .esp, and you would also have the .esm.-upia-
Switch
Tinkering with the master file is never a good idea. You could try it but I suggest keeping a back-up of the original file. :tongue2: Combining all your plugins into one esp might work, but it's a bit risky. Once you did it you'd need to go over it with TESAME and remove any unclean entries.
villevalo
Well, the reason I want to do it is so I can upload it to my xbox for a mod so I wouldn't have to have all the esp files cluttering my folders. Also that way I can load a new game and have everything from the beginning without having to start a clean new game, save it, upload the esp files, and then load my save game to get them to work on my xbox. Wookiee
Well, the reason I want to do it is so I can upload it to my xbox for a mod so I wouldn't have to have all the esp files cluttering my folders. Also that way I can load a new game and have everything from the beginning without having to start a clean new game, save it, upload the esp files, and then load my save game to get them to work on my xbox.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> let me get this straight... your editing the esm... on your computer with i asume tescs... wich would imply you own morrowind on the pc... in order to upload it to the xbox so that you can play the mod on it... wich would sugest you have morrowind on xbox as well... that seem a little odd to anyone else? ok so you have a 3rd party editor and have just uploaded the esm from the xbox to the comp in order to tinker with it (no pc copy of morrowind... how sad) there are programs on the net that will alow you to convert the esm to an editable esp from that you could make the changes you like save as an esm (or as an esp and convert it back to an esm) here is a tool that i used for other purposes http://members.optusnet.com.au/argent2/mw/tools/dtk.html now go kill your esm and be merry
villevalo
Ok, to clear all the ill minded confusion this is what I do. I have my xbox modded with a modchip. I own both the PC, and xbox versions of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind GOTY. I create mods with the PC version, and export them via FTP to my xbox version. I came up with the original way I used to edit my .esm files, and it works beautifully. I can now play all my mods on my xbox. Thanks for all the help, and the great advice on "killing" my esm files from everyone. You have been a great help.
