Sepria - The Revenge

This is my first RP as the GM, but i think i've done a pretty good job of writing a fun game. I've been in one excellent RP and am in another which is shaping up nicely, so i know how to play them. I also know that ground rules should be set, and they are these:

 

1. Play your own char only. If you think that something you are typing will impact on another char, don't post it.

 

2. No power posting either. This will apply mainly to combat situations. For example, i might want to bloke an enemy's attack then stab him. The way to do this is to say "Erunanion tries to raise his shield to bloke his opponent's wild attack. If he succeeds, he will try to stab him in the chest." The GM, me, will then post what the results of this were. In certain situations that i mark with an OOC post i will allow players to state their own actions and consequences, as long as they do not effect the other players.

 

3. Good English please. It is very offputting when someone is using 3ite-speech (or whatever its called) when playing as an Elvish bard called Tooloorahlay.

 

4. Have fun, thats what this is here for.

 

Setting

 

I have attached my Word file which has the background of the story in to this thread, so peruse it you wish to know exactly the history of Sepria. I would recommend it if you are going to play as it will save me explaining it to you in char, and i'll assume you know it already, as it is supposed to be common knowledge.

 

Basically, the son of a killed lord is seeking revenge, and has heard that there is a conspiracy to replace someone he would support on the throne of Sepria, so he wishes to help. That is very basically, but you get the gist. Not the most original either, but give em a break, its my first game.

 

Characters

 

As for races in the game, there will be the usual assortment. Humans, Elves (think of the Tolkien ones without all the knowledge and wisdom. And the long hair), Dwarves, they are all to be played. For archetypes, the Humans are good mages and basic fighters, Elves are good archers and rogues, Dwaves are the best fighters.

 

To give you an idea of what i want the character set-ups to be like, i'll do mine now.

 

Name: Erunanion

 

Gender: Male

 

Race: Elf

 

Age: 134

 

Class: Mage

 

Skills: Erunanion has been a student in the art of magic for the majority of his life, so much so that he should now be considered a teacher rather than a student. But the is always more to be learned.

 

Equipment: Erunanion wears a long black cloak, which is hooded and enveloping. He carries a plain quarterstaff. Inside the cloak are several pockets, inwhich are the basic accutrements of healing - a needle, thread, and soforth; a seven silver coins, and a handful of copper; a tinderbox; a pencil, and several pieces of parchment; a long-handled pipe with a pouch of tobacco; and a length of fishing line.

 

Appearance: Erunanion is tall, like most Elves, and broad across the shoulders. Clad in the black cloak he makes and imposing figure, which his face does nothing to soften. His face is long, and the natural elegance of his race has been hardened, first by the mix of human blood and then by the hardships of his life. His eyes are a piercing green, fitting well with sallow cheeks and pronounced chin.

 

Personality: Erunanion is, on first meeting, slightly icy and distant. He will fit into light conversation, but is very guarded on personal matters and if asked about his background he will close up immediately, leading to his lack of contact with towns generally. He keeps a tight grip on his emotions and is rarely seen not to be under complete control. Despite this, he will unbend with those who he has taken into his trust, and will protect them with all his skill. The lessons of his father to protect your family, which implicitly includes his friends, were well-learned.

 

Background: Erunanion has made his profession simple - stay alive in the wilderness. He was born the son of a middling Elvish lord in the service of the House of Melos. He was trained in the ways of war and peace, by his father, learning in tactics and diplomacy. He was taught to be patient and calculating, and his charcter reflects this. But after the assassination of Andor Kataric, he was smuggled out of the city of Sepria and into the wild. He learned of the massacre of his father's household and his father's execution, and has sworn his revenge. He has spent the last sixty years surviving and practicing in his natural magical skill, avoiding any bounty hunters after his head, and making every effort to amends to the Kataric family for his father's actions, and take revenge for his death.

 

State you name, age, gender, class, equipment, personality and a little background. With regards to equipment, i am not allowing any enchanted items. No swords which magically burst into flame or any of that rot.

For money, consider a gold piece to be what a farmer might earn selling all his crops from a years worth, and twenty silver pieces make up one gold. Ten copper pieces make one silver. Unless your character lets you avoid this, carry what you might need to buy food and drink in towns, and not much more. Say ten silver maximum, or the equivalent in copper, or mixed.

 

Magic

 

I have decided, after deep thinking, to allow mages to be played, but the sort of priestly mage. No shields or bolts of lightning from the fingertips. Think Gandalf in LotR. If you wish to play a mage PM me with how you would play and i'll okay it, or change it to fit the world.

 

I'm looking for another three players. PM me your chars and post them in this thread so i am certain to get them. I'll start the thread when we get all four of us, or if the numbers are lacking, when i decide to.

Okay, I'll use my character Tiemmo. You may wish me to modify the immunity angle but let me know.

 

Name: Tiemmo

 

Gender: Male

 

Age: 22

 

Class: Thief

 

Skills: weapon, long bow (high), long sword (fair) thrown weapons (fair) Other skills: sneak, hide, pick locks (all high), detect and disarm traps (fair)

 

Immune to magic

 

Equipment: long bow, long sword (fair quality steel), six cheap throwing daggers

 

Clothing: no armour, rather scruffy brown jerkin, breeches, brown shirt all poor quality. Good quality black leather boots and archery gloves (stolen of course). A long black cloak.

 

Back pack: very little as he usually takes what he needs, a bed roll, a rope and grappling hook, a dark lantern, lock picks and probes, blacking for covering the face, two gold pieces or equivalent.

 

Appearance: average height, thin, nondescript easy to overlook

 

Personality: because of his backgound he is nervous and shy around people. He is concerned with keeping alive and unidentified but has a longing to find people with whom he could become friends.

 

Background: Tiemmo has no knowledge of his parents. He was brought up by an elderly tight-lipped woman who told him nothing and seemed only to look after him because she had to. She died when he was eight. She lived as a recluse and Tiemmo has tended to stay that way. In his earlier years he had to steal to survive and now it is second nature to him. He does not take any more than he needs to live on and tries not to take from the needy.

 

He has arrived at the village because it is said to be the haunt of thieves and Tiemmo enjoys stealing from other thieves. He is very much a loner.

Name Vidala Lothén

Gender Female

Age 25

Race Human

Class Fighter

 

Skills Very well trained with a sword and shield combo, pretty good healing skills, skilled tracker, marvelous flute player :grin: .

 

Equipment Her only armor is a boiled leather cuirass. She wears a black/dark green shirt and pants. She's got a pair of brown boots, a brown belt and a dark green cape over it all. She's got a plain steel sword, a round wooden shield and a small parrying knife. Her backpack contains a bed roll, a wooden flute, a water bottle, a needle and thread, an extra set of white/light blue clothes, and a leather pouch containing 4 silver and 14 copper pieces.

 

Appearance Vidala is not very tall, nor very small. She measures 5 feet, 8 inches, she's slim but muscular, in a feminine kind of way. She's got a friendly look, long brownish/reddish hair and green eyes.

 

Personality Vidala is very friendly and considerate. She's brave, but not foolish, she won't launch into a battle she can't win. She prefers to have a good plan before charging into combat, unless it's important that she hurries. She's merciful and she loves the nature. Vidala isn't the standard traveler who goes for days without seeing civilization, instead she takes all chances to sleep at an inn instead of out in the forrest.

Hey guys. I'm waiting on replies from a couple of members who ive asked to join - if they all decline then ill alter the script a little and start on monday, so we are all able to post. Also, ill be changing the skills of my char somewhat to mix up the group a little, which i'll post later today.

Ok, here it goes, have me if you want to.

 

Name Lathran Vethilo

Gender Male

Age 41

Class Knight

 

Skills Although he's trained with various weapons, the sword is his favourite. If he's sent out to war, he brings his sword and shield along with a spear or lance, which he handles with great skill.

 

Appearance Both tall and massive, Lathran often wins fights before they start by scaring away any possible threats. Almost 7 feet tall, Lathran isn't the most agile fighter, instead he relies on heavy armor and a strong attack. Almost all of his massive body is muscles, and Lathran isn't the one to come up with any wise plans or stretgic manoeuvers, rather following the orders he recieve from someone better suited for commanding. His hair is almost shoulder-length and dark brown, and his stubble isn't any lighter.

 

Equipment Because of his lack of agility, Lathran wears the strongest armor he can get his hands on, for the moment, he's enshrouded in a complete suit of thick steel armor, complete with a chainmail underneath. Everything from his boots to the thick plates protecting the sides of his neck and head is made of steel, which he tries his best to keep as whole as possible. Around his waist hangs a back sheath which contains a strong steel longsword and on his left arm he carries a big steel tower shield. You can easily see that everything he carries is made by skilled smiths, and it would all be very impressive if it hadn't been both dirty and damaged. On the shield, a big crack is spreading from the top towards the bottom, and one of his neck plates is almost broken in half. You can see a little bit of rust on his left glove and on the plate mail you find a fading golden/silver shield that can barely be seen. From the knees down, the whole armor is covered in dust and mud, as his horse died of old age about a week ago, he's had to walk everywhere. Under the suit of armor he's got a white tunic and a pair of white pants. Being to proud to accept gifts, he doesn't own much except for what he wears, a few copper coins and a map with various markings and notes is everything he owns except for his armor and weapon.

 

Personality Lathran is the ordinary knight, chivalrous, brave, sometimes to brave for his own good as he would launch into any fight to defend what's right, even if he was facing thirty men. He would sacrifice himself to save another human being, and he doesn't fight for money or any payment, honour and glory is his reward. Although he's often been offered many gifts by people he save din one way or another, he's to proud to accept them unless it would seem rude to not accept. As he respects those above him, he caries out any orders in any way possible.

 

Background Born in a wealthy family and raised as a knight like his father, Lathran was brave even as a young boy, which caused him much trouble with the local boys as he would always do the right thing and fight anyone who dared him, even if he was faced against 5 boys his age, he never backed out. By the age of 25, he started his life as a knight, taking orders from kings and lords all around the world, and he had a good life, living with monks and priests when he could not get a room at some inn. Eventually, things started to go bad though. He was caught in the service of a king who didn't care much about his knights, paying them very little salary. After several years, he left his lord and somehow, after months of travel, he ended up in a small village, seeking for work.

Name: Draego

Gender: Male

Age: 25

Class: Samurai

 

Skills: He has been rendered of his sight yet his other 4 sense's are as sharp as a needle. He has been trained with the use of both short and long swords as well as staffs. He were's no armor but will call apon it when needed. He is also mysteriously gifted with a unknown magic.

 

Appearance: He stands at 5, 10. He is skinny yet strong. He were's a black robe on top of a samurai shirt and skirt. He is almost alway's cloaked with the black robe in public in order to hide scars. He were's a blin fold over his eye's to hide them. he also has a tatoo running down his arm of seven dragon's each with an emblem in between their open mouth's.

 

Equipment: He were's clothing of a samurai and has one wazaki and one katana as well as a staff to walk on.

 

Personality: He is noble but at the same time very mysterious. He prefers to keep his past a secret and shot's daring looks a anyone who ask's him of it. Otherwise He will help the needy and save the innocent as well as punish the villians.

 

Backround: A mystery.

 

Magic: He is gifted with the magic of Dragon's. The Seven Dragon's of Power tatooed on his arm give him the power of Light, Dark, Fire, Air, Water, Earth, and Ice. One for each dragon. Although this magic is powerful it takes a heavy toll on the user and he may die from using it.
