Quondom Posted December 6, 2013 Share Posted December 6, 2013 Here's a rough one: I'm about a hundred hours into the game and I foolishly decided to add a mod, the Weapons Mod Menu. No way to load old saves: It hangs or it crashes. I tried then to use NSE to re-merge, also an error. Then, I deleted and deactivated the Weapons Mod Menu, deleted the new merge file, and went back to the old merge file. Still no luck. Sometime during this process, the Mod Manager got bumped down to the bottom of the load order, and I forgot where it was before. I tried moving it back to every possible location, but nothing worked. phoneyLogic Posted December 8, 2013 Share Posted December 8, 2013 (edited) Esm files always need to load before esps, in the entire list. You have mixed some esps under the esms. There were only two mods activated in the FOMM Package Manager: "Mod Configuration Menu" and "PN-ExtraOptions-MCMScriptFixes-4". I took them out, remerged and started a new game. OK, now I have a new game. I load a save from the old game. Looks normal. Save the newly reloaded game, and restart. Nothing! The game hangs at the point of loading save. Now, I have a NV I can't play without starting a new game. Also, no Mod Manager. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
phoneyLogic Posted December 15, 2013 Share Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) Might be the merged patch? Frankly, I didn't need one yet in FNV. You may give a try without. Also mak3 sure your game is up to date and that the FalloutNV.exe is excluded from MSE or the Windows Defender. They are known for preventing savegames from loading. Now, I am afraid to change anything at all because, I don't really know what went wrong, and I don't want to take any chances so long as it is working. Main thing: IT'S WORKING! Quondom Posted December 19, 2013 Author Share Posted December 19, 2013 Just great, I try Honest Hearts, and I'm back in limbo. Can't load any of those saves. Either they hang, or they crash. Maybe it's because I have Nola with me? I rescued her after I finished Bulldozer's quest, and she's been following me ever since. I'm reluctant to get rid of her, because I'm not sure how I can safely do that, or how to get her back. She is awfully good with that laser. AND she can wear power armor. Strange but true. However, you can clean your saves from mods by using this method: How to Do a Clean SaveSome mods require a clean save when you uninstall them or when you upgrade to a newer version.Follow these steps: 1.) It is generally best to go to an interior cell, and smaller cells are best. An interior cell is apparent because you have a loading screen when you "open" the door from the outside (such as when you enter most buildings). 2.) Save your game to a new save slot (do not overwrite an earlier save) and quit the game. 3.) Uninstall the mod. 4.) Start the game and load your last saved game. 5.) After the game full loads, make a new save (do not overwrite an earlier save) and quit the game. 6.) If you're upgrading the mod that you uninstalled, you can now install the new version. 7.) Start the game and load your previous saved game. 8.) Just to be safe: make one more new save (do not overwrite an earlier save). 9.)
