magicdinosaur
Ever since downloading Broken Steel and the Pitt I haven't been able to get either of them to work. My main concern is Broken Steel because it almost works(but then doesn't), and causes lots of problems in the game. I'm using Vista, have no mods installed, and have put both the Pitt's and Broken Steel's files in the data folder. So, while having Broken Steel turned on in the data files options, sentinel Lyons isn't with me when I enter the rotunda and never shows up. I can't leave and re-enter and Li never calls on the intercom to tell us to turn on the Purifier. This happens no matter how many times I try it. My solution was to save right before entering the rotunda, exit the game and turn off Broken Steel, reload, enter the rotunda(Sentinel Lyons with me), immediately save and exit before autumn can talk to me, turn on Broken Steel and then reload. At first this seemed to solve the problem, how ever after watching the ending video I would get the 'two weeks later' screen and then have something that looked like I was staring at a ceiling somewhere, but nothing would ever happen. I could hear people and a robot moving around next to me and I pushed tons of buttons but nothing happened. I tried a workaround that muppetsoup posted here http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showto...hl=broken+steel and that seemed to work, but when I talked to people I had to read all of the subtitles because their voices weren't playing, and when Rothchild was showing me the map it didn't change, instead these giant red blocks just appeared infront of it. As far as the Pitt goes, it just doesn't seem to work. I've been told I'm supposed to wait for a radio beacon, but that never happens. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix these problems please let me know! I've been trying to work through this for three days and I'm started to get a little frustrated! magicdinosaur
I tried re installing the game to try and fix these problems, but I have yet to download the patch again. Before uninstalling it I had the patch and had the same problems. I'll try that now though, and see what happens.

jetflightgirl
I tried that solution offered by muppetsoup, too. I also did the whole fake patch stuff as outlined in the stickied guide on getting mods and DLCs to work together. Before the muppetsoup solution (aka, downloading free play after MQ, the game would just end. Broken Steel was loaded from go, because I'm level 24 and have crossed the proverbial swords with supermutie overlords and enclave inferno troopers and whatnot. The free play thingie worked well enough - I got control of my character, ran around and even Sarah Lyons, who was dead, got better and stood up. So, I saved the game, disabled free play and enabled Broken Steel. Reloaded and after a few seconds, I'd get the very last piece of the ending movie (the "Big Game Hunter" picture segment) and then BAM! Game over. I am, to be quite honest, at my wits end. The Pitt and Anchorage worked perfectly, but Broken Steel just won't start - though the game is clearly reading it.
Wandik
it a bit strange, but the message ingame about loading BS and being able to level up to 30 came after few hours of playing... maybe this is stupid, but try to leave pree play afte MQ enabled together with BS, till the message comes... jetflightgirl
Nope. That just kept the game going on as it would with free play. went outside and took a look around, then tried leaving and disabling free play again. still no broken steel.
overload1977
if you used free play mod before you had broken steel and had your level over 20 i`m sorry you cant play i tryed everthing myself i lost one char but i did have a old save around level 19 and that worked. you will need a old save before you finished Take it Back the last mission as well then walk around abit before you do it and see if broken steel loads do a side quest of something you need to del all mods that mess about with levels and the free play mod as well good luck
jetflightgirl
Nope. I had BS already installed and enabled the moment I stepped out of Vault 101 for the first time. I had never even played the after-end or level-cap raising mods, any of them. Broken Steel LOADS perfectly. Like I said, level 24 and facing Broken Steel enemies occasionally. It just won't go beyond the main quest.
