pepperman35
Assuming one sets up their settlement creation with vendor booths, does it make sense to put limits on when the store will be unlocked? I believe workshop vendors man the store for 12 hours, from 0800 to 2000. So one could put as script on the door that locks them during off hours. Thoughts? Question is...Will they avoid going to the door or start bumping onto it ?
pepperman35
Not sure about the AI behavior regarding locked door. I seem to recall something in there about unlock doors for some of the packages. I seem to recall the shop in diammond city were locked during off hours. Didn't see a script on the doors though. Perhaps controlled via a quest?
niston
Keep in mind that settler AI doesn't care about doors. The AI will just teleport to where it thinks the NPC needs to be (inside the settlement area). I think locked doors will only keep the AI from going into another location. But if same location, it will just teleport onto navmesh somewhere nearby. LarannKiar
There's an AI procedure named "StayAway" that wasn't used by the developers (or I just haven't seen it anywhere) but it actually works. If you spawn a reference at the furniture, fill it into an Alias and target it with an AI package (it targets SingleRef), you should be able to turn the area around the furniture settler-free. Unfortunately, the NPC's AI must be evaluated within the StayAway radius so the package can take effect as other AI packages can still target activatable objects within the Stayaway radius (this can be solved by blocking the references from being activated or by disallowing nearby NPCs to use them). If you jump to the settlement during "closed" hours, the game will spawn them inside regardless. (& then probably try to walk out against a locked door, or just stand there) I've seen it happen all the time with places I tried to keep settler free. Basically, if it has a navmesh inside your settlement, the game will spawn a settler on top of it. (Which can result in settlers getting stuck inside foundations and stuff like that as well.) edit:After finding Preston up in my (unreachable for NPC's) tree house for the 3rd time, I never used or build one again  Edited January 18, 2023 by RoNin1971

Or maybe a cube/plane that made that area "unseen" by npc's during unwanted hours
niston
Alas, there's no provisions for scripting navmesh. You can however set up navcut triggers. But they only work / get evaluated for loaded areas. For unloaded areas, the AI will ignore them.
