Sepria - The Revenge

Erunanion waved his hand forward and began to canter along the alley, closely followed by the rest of the group. As they broke out onto the grass plains that surrounded the town they turned north-east and rode for several miles before slowing.

Erunanion did not turn around, but said, "They did not follow us. I do not know whether our ruse was effective or not, but we must hope it was." He looked wesr at the long trade road that lead into the town, devoid of travellers. "We shall head further east until we loose sight of the road, then turn to travel parallel with it." He spoke as if no-one else was around, and he was merely speaking to himself.

As they travelled further, he moved his horse next to Tiemmo's. "I would like to thank you for accompanying me, Tiemmo. I appreciate that you may not have been wholly convinced by my words in the tavern. May i ask, what is your background?"

EDIT: Sorry for playing everyone's characters but i wanted to move the story on a little.

Lathran had been riding a few feet behind the rest of the group as he was trained to always keep the distance between him and his superiors, it was all a matter of respect and knowing who was in charge. Besides, he always used to ride in the back to protect everyone else if they were to be attacked from behind. As he rode on, he muttered the words to a song he'd heard a few months ago on a trip up north.

"There believe there is a well hidden sight just a few more minute's up ahead when the road fork's."

Draego turn's to Lathran.

"An interesting tune there."

Lathran, interrupted in his own mind, observed Draego for a moment before understanding what he said. "It certainly is..", he muttered and shook his head. "It tells a story of a lonely man who died to save his honour and his country. I heard it from a strange man from the far east, I don't know all the words, so I'll never know how it ends", he said.

Tiemmo shrugs. "I haven't much of a story. I know nothing of my family. I was brought up by a tight-lipped old woman who told me nothing. But it doesn't bother me, it's not who your family is that matters it's who YOU are. I've had to look after myself since I was quite young. I've done things I'm not proud of. But I learned. I believe I learned. If I hadn't taken from others I'd never have survived. I came to see that there were those who suffered when they lost food and those who did not. I saw that there were other thieves. Some were like me, stealing to live. Others stole for gain or greed. Taking from them is not stealing. And many of them do it in the name of 'business' or 'trade'. They charge exorbitant prices and cheat those who do not understand. They are my most preferred target."

He smiles. "But I seldom use what I take on myself. That's why I chose that tavern. The beggars and really poor will find a coin in their pocket. Nothing much, just a lucky find but they'll eat well for once."

He glances back at the others. "That's about all I can say. I'm not much of a one for talking."

Erunanion nods slowly while Tiemmo is talking. "This explains much to me. You have caused me something of a quandary. For you see," he leaned slightly closer and lowered his voice, "My abilities allow me to see into the minds of others; that is how I knew the names of our companions. But for some reason I cannot see into your mind. It is odd in some ways, but very refreshing."

He smiled grimly. "I lower my voice because the talk of this subject is generally disconcerting for most people, and I do not want to disturb our new friends."

He spurred his horse on to the head of the group.

Draegp begin's to ride to the front of the group in order to talk to Erunanion.

"I wish to talk to you after we stop. I wish to discuss what I will recieve for this little coo of yours. In the mean time I offer my services to you."

"I am surprised you would offer your services at all without knowing your reward. I assume you overheard my... imprications to the others in the tavern? Good, then you know why I am doing this. I have hired these people because I cannot accomplish this task on my own - each of these people have talents that I feel I shall require."

"To be honest, you I have allowed to travel with us out of neccesity. You know enough about our endevour to ensure that it never succeeds, and I cannot allow that. Since i did not pick you for your skills you shall have to demostrate your usefulness to my goal. You shall have an opportunity to do so soon. Our destination is only a day or so ahead."

"My reward I would like no more than what you offer the other's. And believe me I would not cause any harm to your goal even if I was to be denied, I would still help in what ever way possible. May I ask, what is our destination?"
