Sepria - The Revenge

"We are bound for the library city of Lindor. I have the name of a man who can aid us, and who can put us in contact with the plotters."

The group stopped and rode as the weather and each other dictated, arriving on the outskirts of the city of Lindor within two days.

The city was in truth not a city, but more of a township that had been surrounded by arriving travellers. The walls of the town, surprisingly well-built for an academic place, had not yielded to the pressure of its increasing population, and so large slum areas had formed in pockets clinging to the outer edge of the city, and to whatever charity they could lay hands on. Thus the elegance and splendour of Lindor was marred by the maligance that had infected the rest of Sepria.

The group rode down from a small grassy rising to the south of the city, late in the night. Dismounting, Erunanion looked down at the city. "Perfect evidence of what I have told you all. This town once rivalled any in the Empire in beauty, but no longer. We must get over the walls and into the town, tonight. I understand that you are weary, but speed is the key in this enterprise. The main gates are closed for the night, but I believe we may be able to gain entry through there-" he pointed to a nearby slum settlement that nestled alongside the town wall. "Lead your horses down to the houses quietly, we do not wish to cause unneeded alarm."

Tiemmo dismounts and walks the horse in the direction indicated. He calls to Erunanion "Are we going to be able to talk freely where we are going? If not we might need to have an outline plan beforehand."

Draego dismounted his horse and began to walk.

"I guess we may not get a warm welcome from the local's here. This is probally as cheerful as this place get's nowaday's."

Erunanion stopped walking but didn't turn around. "That is a truth, Draego. It is true that we may not be able to speak freely whilst in the company of some of the city's inhabitants; after all, this is a city of the Emperor, not some backwater which lives by its own laws."

We are going to simply meet my contact, discover the names of the plotters and then leave. I do not, however, think that things will be that simple. Also, I have a job for two of you. There are several items that I would like you to pick up for me whilst I am in the city that are being looked after by a local labourer and his family. Draego, if you and Lathran would do this for me I would be obliged to you." He handed Draego a piece of paper, and slipped a brass ring from a fold in his cloak.

"These will identify you as friends of mine to the labourer, who goes by the name of Camel, don't ask me why. He should hand over the goods to you after seeing those. Do the two of you understand?"

"Yes, we shall locate him and retrieve your item's. However where is this... Camel and what are the item's you wish for us to find? Just incase."

Looking at Tiemmo and Vidala, Erunanion said, "You two shall be accompanying me into the city. We will be making contact with a librarian who has already told me much of the information he knows about the coup. Once he has told us the rest he shall join us. Wel will return here, pick up my articles that Lathran and Draego are collecting, and head on to the Imperial City."

He turned back to Draego. "It is a signet ring, a glove, and a piece of engraved metal, that I am sending you to get - they each contain some emblem or symbol of the Kataric family, and will be necessary to convince the plotters and my contact that we are genuine."

"Is there anything other questions people have before we seperate?"

Lathran lead his horse away and returned with a slight frown. Running around collecting things wasn't his favorite duty. "We will find this.. Camel", he muttered and turned around to leave.

"We shall meet upon this hill. We should not be more than a few ours within the walls, so expect us back quickly. I realise that may not be the most exciting job you can think of, but I must have those items. Is there anything else?"

He turned to Tiemmo and Vidala, and plucked at the edge of his robe in expectation.
