overload1977
i wish i had windows 7 ...........aka windows vista final what make me laugh is that everone with vista may get the windows 7 for free lets hope so, i have only had vista for just over 1 year jan 2008!!!!! :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: and will be very pissed off if i have to buy a new windows operating system............. vista is very good and doing somethings but games........ dose not like at all............ a teck friend of mine said on the mirosoft web site OK, up front I am NOT a Microsoft hater. I use XP on one of my PC’s and have a laptop that came with Vista Home Premium pre-installed. Yes, I also use a MacBook Pro and have a Linux system - so I think I can make the next statement with a clear conscience. Here it goes. Windows 7 Vista free upgradeMicrosoft, please do ‘the right thing’ and give us Vista users a free or reduced upgrade route to Windows 7 Why am I asking this? OK, so Windows Vista is not quite as horrible as many people say. I am the first to admit it. A lot of the flack Vista got was uncalled for. However, a lot of the flack Vista got is totally valid and I believe Microsoft already know this. By hawking Windows 7 to the media and public as a faster, less resource hungry and all round better OS - Microsoft are clearly going to lose a STACK of sales. Why upgrade to Vista now; when Windows 7 seems to offer a better upgrade route from your XP system than Vista does? Why buy Vista today, knowing Microsoft are themselves trying to get you to focus on the NEXT Windows OS? Since bringing Windows Vista to market, Microsoft has not only received a stack of bad publicity - it has ALSO caused those who use Vista to suffer with a s-l-o-w-e-r system than we deserve. If you don’t believe me, stick a copy of XP on a machine running Vista and watch it fly! (Or stick a linux OS on it and watch it leave the fricking planet :) ) I believe Microsoft can turn some of the problems and bad publicity surrounding Vista into a plus - if they offer Vista users either a free upgrade to Windows 7 or at least a discount upgrade route. Here’s where YOU come in. Do you think there’s any reason for Microsoft to offer Vista users a less expensive Windows 7 upgrade route? Maybe you think they Vista users got what they deserved for not downgrading to XP or a Linux OS. Let us know what YOU think!
Pronam
There are rumors of a discount quite some time ago already...although it were for certain people that bought vista at certain times, If I remember correctly.I got to win7 the moment the first beta was released. Vista was hellish on older machines, while win7 runs like xp on them...lol.. thought about adding a poll. Like what the real reason was why it went wrong with vista..there are still many opinions on that one :) Offering a discount would be a perfect message to the everyone. Although some people are so glad there is a different system. They'll buy it as soon it hits the shelves.... Maybe Microsoft will skip the discount of it after all :), I sure hope not... Got a backup of vista from a recent laptop and upgrade version that's older. Maybe I'm in :).(Think the discount would be for people that bought it BEFORE some date. Cause they had most of the problems...)
LHammonds
Here's the funny thing, I manage a network with about 300 PCs running WinXP Pro. When Vista came out, we bought the business edition and gave it a whirl to check it out in our environment and what it would take to convert our WinXP environment to Vista. We all agreed that it would be too expensive to support (time, $$ and software/hardware compatibility issues forcing other upgrades). As we purchased new PCs, we obtained Vista licenses but had WinXP pre-loaded on them...hoping a re-evaluation of Vista with SP1 would solve many of the upgrade hurdles. We are still running WinXP to this day with no plans on upgrading to Vista if that tells you anything. ;) Our initial tests of Windows 7 on our existing hardware has been quite favorable. We are in the process now of checking the compatibility with all the software that we run today. Several key packages are running fine so far. Our laptop has been running for over a week now without rebooting and installation of RC1 (32-bit) was far easier and faster than we had anticipated. It is very likely we will be running Win7 at 100% around 12 months after final release. LHammonds
