Seriously... is anyone working on new quests?

Hey All,

First of all, let me admit that as much as I would love to develop Fallout 3 mods, I'm mid-thirties with a 2 year old at home and I work 50 hours a week so it just ain't gonna happen. Not to mention, its been 12 years since I wrote any code more complicated than what you can fit in a cell in Excel. Kudos to all of you for the cool stuff that you are developing most of which I don't have time to even download.

The reason I'm posting is because I've been looking (albeit sporadically) for some new quests and content here and not really finding much. I found the COMM package but its just an island with buildings and NPCS. Granted, its gorgeous and cool, but there's NOTHING TO DO!

Can anyone recommend any relatively stable mods that add a quest chain that is at least mildly entertaining (and not in German)? I really don't need more weapons or armor or pretty textures or new radio stations... I'm just looking to have some more fun doing quests. FYI... I've already played through all the DLCs.

if you have time to play video games and do quests, you have time to figure out how to make em, i say ;)

heh *ducks*

LOL! There's some truth there...somewhere... no wait! Nope. Lost it.

Well I have fired my GECK up on my new XP OS and I am creating a new MOD that replaces Wadsworth or Godfrey(sp?)!

Right now its in it's Alpha Version ( no quest)

But soon I will create a quest on how to obtain a maid/butler.

I always found it stupid that the player recieved the robot for free, so to speak.

it just simply takes a realy long time to make a decent sized quest mod...

the GECK simply hasn't been out long enough for people to have already got a team together, create entire new worlds, make a story, and actualy get it all to work with no bugs (not even Bethesda figured that last one out on their own DLC)

if you realy did want to help, you don't have to do the whole thing yourself, you could just learn to make models or script NPC dialog or something small, and do it for an hour or two a week to help out on another mod... not every modder on here sells their souls and spends 5 hours a day on it (hell, I spent like 2 to 3 hours on my mod, realeased it as a WIP and have forgot about it for almost a month now... but it still has over 1000 downloads, and some people realy like it)

not that im trying to tell you what to do, just trying to get rid of the myth that anyone who wants to mod has to give up their lives...

yeah, another good way to contribute, write down all your quest ideas in .txt file. Im sure you have many!

be as specific as you want, name your characters or npcs, make up stories and map out the dialogue choices with possible responses. This is what quest designers do anyways, so just saying 'make interesting quests' is one thing, but being able to give some ideas or propose something specific is alot better and might actually get done, if people like the idea(s)

:)

I once saw someone post and said 'i have this idea for a mod, its totally awesome, i dont know anything about modding, but ill need a team of hard working people to get it done, PM Me for more information!'

I laffed.

Your post is genuine and kindly worded, but I cant help but think back to that guy who posted that a long time ago, and cringe at the thought. No offense, just trying to help clarify why people might not be jumping up and down to snap up any ideas that come their way to make them into mods, most people are busy making their own already :) BUT if you can get the ball rolling and share some ideas or thoughts, you might just find that one or two people come out of the woodwork to help you out if they like your idea(s)

Alright. I'm going to make a post that I'm willing to write for a mod. Dialogue, notes, anything it needs. We'll see if I get any takers. ;-)

Better yet, make a post that you have already written solid material. For a promise I will happily give you the blue sky.
