JohnGrimm
For some reason I tried to load up Oblivion with OBSE and it's saying "Insert Oblivion Disc". Well it's inserted, and it's reading it, but it's still not launching the game. Trying to launch the game with the actual launcher does the same thing. This is incredibly frustrating, should I just reinstall?
Deepblue686
I'm not sure if it's even possible but make sure you are using the correct patch for the correct version of the game Like using the Italian patch for the Italian version and so on. Just make sure, I don't know if that's what's causing it but we can all but try.
Palpenious
Started having this problem shortly after buying Oblivion, and it seems to persist with any game I put in. For me it seems my DVD drive is just going out, but I've been using a fixed .exe for Oblivion and a few other games for a while and it's much nicer. darkjaffar
Well, this sounds more like a dirty disk than a reinstall issue. Look at the disk and see if there are damages. If they are just smears from hands, you can clean it using instructions you can find online almost anywhere. Scratches may be more problematic. bben46
If it is any game and not just Oblivion, then you have a drive problem. First, make sure the disk fits loosely in the tray and is not binding.Get a CD lens cleaning disk, it's possible you have a dirty led. - putting in a disk that has been wet by cola is the worst offender. The cola or any other sticky liquid will distort the light beam that reads the disk making it very unreliable. DVD drives are relatively inexpensive - I just bought a New DVD burner for a friend for US $25. And they are easy to install. No settings, just remove the connectors from the old one and plug them into the new one.
apocalypse1138
I sometimes have this same problem, but it has to do with my comp. What I pretty much have to do is have the disk already in when I am starting my comp, or before it boots up completely. Hope that helps a bit. MarkJDK
OR he can make a copy of the dvd to a iso file and run it directly from a virtual drive. I always do that with my games so I don't need to worry about the disc state. Just copy and put the game to the collection =D
