  1. Thought I might pop in... Happy new year all! Now if you excuse me, I'll be jamming on my Epiphone Gibson SG :P
  2. Yeah good luck, even though I think a hamlet for some reason, a baby pig (it isn't, right?). :P
  3. Merry Christmas all! :P Looking forward to the mod (still)! Could use a good major quest mod! Looks like i'll need to get a friend of mine to download it for me, since this looks like it's shaping up to be an epic mod that my dial-up won't be able to handle. :P
  4. Thanks, even if this doesn't solve this problem now, it was a good read. :P
  5. Thanks for the suggestion. The problem has expanded however. I now CTD randomly, just found this out while clearing out a random goblin-inhabited cave. I have been running the same settings (game & mod) for at least 5-6 hours of playtime, so I'm still perfectly clueless as to what is happening. I do have a rather poor video card, ATI X300, but I've been running on lower settings as to mantain an acceptably smooth framerate. Edit- I run character manager so I clicked an option to keep error logs, and well... seems that there's quite a number of them, so I picked out the one associated with today and came up with this... Timestamp: 12/22/2009 11:27:42 PM Exception type: OblivionCharacterManager.CharacterManagement.InvalidSaveFileException Message: Exception of type 'OblivionCharacterManager.CharacterManagement.InvalidSaveFileException' was thrown. Stack trace: at OblivionCharacterManager.CharacterManagement.OblivionSave.LoadFile() at OblivionCharacterManager.CharacterManagement.OblivionCharacter.LoadSaves() Greatly apreciated if someone could tell me what this means. :P Or perhaps what this means. Timestamp: 12/22/2009 11:56:06 PM Exception type: System.IO.InvalidDataException Message: The data provided by the server was not in the correct format. Stack trace: at OblivionCharacterManager.UpdateInfo.GetUpdateInfo(Int32 timeout) at OblivionCharacterManager.UpdateForm.checkUpdatesBackgroundWorker_DoWork(Object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e)
  6. So recently any time I am near an oblivion gate, I seem to run an extremely high risk of a CTD, I run a large number of mods 150-200+? And I'm just wondering if there are any mods that might cause this problem or what might be happening to my game. Thanks for your time :P
  7. So poking around trying to re-break into the world of scripting, and of course running into a wall within the first five minutes. :P Trying to create a script for a shield where if the block key is held with it equipped, you will gain 100 to spellreflectchance. Took the example given and ended up with this mass failure of a script, but I hope it conveys my general idea... scn MirrorShieldScirpt float origvalue float origvalue2 float modvalue float curkey begin gamemode if ( curkey && iscontrolpressed curkey) return else setcurkey to 0 endif if ( iscontrolpressed 6 ) set origvalue to player.getactorvalue spellreflectchance set modvalue to origvalue + 100 set curkey to 6 endif end
  8. @slawter500: still have a lot of catching up to do with that list, it would be a long time before I need more link suggestions. @pronam: yeah, release dates tend to cause panic & stress, along with causing hoopla and the mod being rushed to its completion.
  9. OOT Equipment Thread Requests & Suggestions About This Thread & History: I am creating this thread because I have a problem. My "ultimate" vision for Oblivion is a partial Zelda-fication. Some mods aim to re-create Hyrule, some have faithfully reproduced Link's timeless Master Sword and some have re-created his tunic. My current vision of Zelda-fication is a sort of middle path. To re-create some of his equipment. To start small, I scripted a bit with some cool effects I could add to the tunics (pronam aka vicICE was invaluable help, IIRC. Also the tunics I used were compliments of the Legend of Zelda HoT Vol 4 mod, other equipment was from the Zelda Mod Project, IIRC, thanks much). I had come up with the Goron (Red) Tunic, while equipped, resisting all damage from lava. I had also come up with the Zora (Blue) Tunic, while equipped, greatly increasing the wearer's speed while swimming. I have thought a bit for a cool scripted effect for the Green Tunic, but nothing either original or faithful to the series came to mind, and as such, I am open to suggestions. This is only the past though, and not the vision I have for the future of my obsessive Zelda-fication of Oblivion. To start small, I would like to focus on a few items of his, including but not limited to; Mirror Shield, Boomerang, Bow, Bombs, and Hookshot. Let's now move onto some pics and some ideas I have to make this work. Pics & Ideas: Here I will post pics of the equipment I would like to recreate, going from easiest to create on paper, to hardest. The Fairy Bow & Arrows: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/zelda/images/b/b1/Fairy_Bow.png By far the easiest to create, with no additional scripting required, would be this piece of equipment, meshes and icons for both the bow and arrow are all thats needed, along with whatever hooplah is involved with creating a new bow and custom arrows, and of course a cool quiver, perhaps from another mod with permission (realswords comes to mind). :P Bombs (rough image idea): http://www.videogamesblogger.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/link-bomb-throw-artwork-scan-big.jpg A long while (8 months-ish) ago I asked the creator of the Blackpowder Bombs if I could use a version of the script, he accepted, but with due credit needed to be given, of course. I'm not sure if using your script is still ok with you, but I'm guessing it is. Anyways, if someone can create the needed meshes and icons, I'll send the script their way along with modifications to finish up the bombs. (why doesn't the CS have copypasta for scripts?!) Mirror Shield: http://media.strategywiki.org/images/0/07/OOT_Mirror_Shield.jpg Surprisingly should be easy, and I think it will be surprisingly cool as well. Just create meshes and icons, along with a script that while blocking, gives 100 reflect spell. Upon further review, this will require OBSE. I need to use IsControlPressed to detect when the set block key is being held. Fire,Ice, & Light Arrows (pic for inventory icon, actual arrow mesh in description): http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/zelda/images/e/e7/Light_Arrow_(Ocarina_of_Time_and_Majora Fairly simple, tinge the arrowheads the appropriate color (red, blue, and yellow, respectively). Then create a script to do some fire damage, frost damage, and (open to alternatives)thunder damage. In the script include draining the PC's magic on impact (upon firing?). Boomerang: http://members.fortunecity.com/zeldafm/boomerang.jpg Now were cooking with gas, the Boomerang! I want to really start with making this simple, and of course I am open to suggestions. Make it a spell called "Boomerang" and give it a unique spell icon similar to the boomerang itself. Upon casting (0 magic cost?), it releases the boomerang straight forward, not sure about making it come back though! For effects I'm thinking slight damage and high speed drain for 1-2 seconds. Hookshot (ugh): http://members.fortunecity.com/zeldafm/hookshot.jpg Looking quite original on paper, this could go many ways. A spell that places the hookshot in the caster's left hand and shoots out a hook. A staff that looks like the hookshot and upon use, shoots out a hook. Or a weapon, when swung, will shoot out a hook. Thats the difficult choice, but the easy choice, difficult to do part comes here. Either make the PC teleport to where the hook from the hookshot hits a wall, make the hook do damage to whatever it hits, or (preferably) both. Difficulties: Okay, here are the difficulties and problems I have. First of all, inexperience. I have an extremely skeletal knowledge of modding, but I am willing to learn more, whatever can help my Zelda-fication idea become a reality. Also schedual issues. Only available on weekends, for about a total of 20+ hours, rarely during the week. What you can do to help: Many things, and I will be extremely grateful for any help I recieve, as I will need a lot. If you can supply meshes or anything like that, and tell me how to use them, that's great. If you can teach me some cool useful scripts or just write some up for me, that's also great and extraordinarily useful. Also suggestions and ideas are invaluable, it would be great to get second opinions on some choices or just getting to hear a second view on what would be possible and what would not be. Pm's or posting here would be the best way to contact me with any ideas or resources. Thanks for reaching this point in my post and considering my ideas and requests, it is much appreciated. :P
  10. Yeah, it's still kinda wierd though that everything is almost the same the way I left it, and that was a looooong time ago. :P As for how I'm doing, barely fine, was much worse and that's why I haven't really been around. But On-Topic... release date? It'd be interesting to play this mod out, I'm waay to overloaded on equipment mods/interface so quests and such are the thing im looking forward to. Also any zelda equipment mods, been wanting to do bombs or a boomerang for forever! :P
  11. 483 pages, holy crap dudes! Good to see this has really taken off! :P
  12. You forgot mine! :P Currently a dead list but I might resume work on it sometime, it is here!
  13. *Smacks calliton for ripping this off of the FL forum.* :P You KNOW we will never see an end, so therefore I will steal the win.
  14. Wow, this topic has went from extremely interesting, to downright useful and potentially life-saving. Just skimmed through, as it looks like this topic contains a healthy amount of text, but I'll be going back through and reading it all. I'll keep reading and ask another question if something comes to mind, but this is a very good topic and I have enjoyed it so far.
  15. Well, since the purpose of posting this had to do somewhat with a connection to games... What do you think about melee weapons in shooters? More specifically, the knife, an effective one-shot close ranged weapon. Is that really realistic? How do melee weapons figure into a real-life firefight? And most importantly, are they even effective? -Oh yeah, and thanks for posting this, this made my day today :P
  16. Also like FF 4,5, and 6 :P Re-playing these games, I have much more appreciation for atb (active-time battle) and the potential difficulty it can bring.
  17. Hmm, you need to have a submission form here, could do editing, but I need to know hours and whatnot. :P
  18. Wait, nevermind I think I'm wrong, and it looks like were going with turn based, so make sure you come up with some interesting battle commands (jump/cover/mimic ect.) stuff like that
  19. Ask dunc what he changed his vote from, because he re-voted but I'm unsure if that would show up in the poll...so we might be tied here...
  20. Not my fault that I think that way... :P *ahem* now, back on topic, how many new maps ya got this week, aaron?
  21. Good! Interesting thing is, my creative mind starts working at night and in the shower :P -Oh crap, I just read that last sentance, if you're thinking that! you are quite wrong!
  22. Writer's Block sucks, sorry man, you don't have any back-up writers?
  23. Alright, just me coming in to report for playtesting. :P I can't believe it has been a month since you guys have started this project, sure doesn't feel like it. I've been kinda sorta busy lately with messing around and whatnot. Also started making a game on the RPG maker 2000, it's coming along quite nicely. (and no, that's not an ad because of now, I don't intend to publicly release it because I have no clue how to :P) I also lost the link to the Fort Fear forums so if you could pass that along, then I'll be there for conversation or whatever :P
  24. It's quite possible, but from what I've seen from the screenshots, everything looks incredible good (and new). I doubt it is one of the newer ones though, since I beleive they cost 60$ and there is a somewhat large team working on the game. (well, what I consider large...). That's an easy couple hundred dollars there, so no, I don't think it's any of the newer RPG makers. And it's not one of the older ones since I'm making a game for fun on RPGmaker 2k and it doesn't look nearly as good as the screenies for FL. :P -yeah, I really did have to throw in a :P smiley at the end there.
  25. People in comas win the game, but it sucks to be in a coma...
