Bounty for Stealing Farmer's Crops

Does anyone know of, or could they make, a mod where you get a bounty and earn the ire of the citizenry when you march into their garden or tramp across their farm land and start stealing their crops?

 

Something like the reaction when you kill a chicken? But maybe not as extreme.

 

It just seems crazy that you can rob them blind when they are standing there tending their land, and after you strip it bare they keep tending a barren field.

 

Same if you agree to work for them but then scarper with the crop. I mean, there's a war on and food is scarce. If they go so ape-s#*! crazy over a single chicken, why not after stripping all their fields bare of vegetables? I mean, it's not like you are stealing their milk!

 

If you get the mini-quest to work for them, you can pick their crops etc, but if you leave the vicinity without handing in their produce, you get a bounty of, say, 10 times what they would have paid you for theft of food and national resources in time of war; maybe agricultural sabotage and, if you are a Nord, Treason?

Sounds like a good idea. It doesn't really make sense that you can steal crops with no penalty.

 

This mod can help. It turns farmers into vendor who sell their produce. That way you can buy it from them and just choose not to pick/steal their crops.

The crops are there to be harvested by the player, the stipulation is that you're expected to turn the crops over to the farmers and get paid for doing the grunt work of harvesting them.

 

In order for this to work with the vanilla intent of crop harvesting, you'd have to be assigned a bounty only if you both harvested a farmer's crops, and left the general area of the farm without selling them to the farmer.

I'd like to see crowds of peasants with pitch forks and torches for vegetable thieves!

 

 

The crops are there to be harvested by the player, the stipulation is that you're expected to turn the crops over to the farmers and get paid for doing the grunt work of harvesting them.

That's the point of the mod I am asking for. The Vanilla intent is badly implemented.

 

Instead of stealing all the potatoes from all the farms you come across and then talking to the last farmer and he buys ALL your potatoes (including those which are not even his) before he has even asked you to work for him and you have not even asked for a job, it should be done properly.

 

All crops in gardens and farms should be marked as steal or leave. UNLESS, you talk to a farmer and get a job. THEN you can pick his crops without stealing them. Then go back to him and he pays you for what you picked.

 

But if you leave the area of the farm, he realises he's been chumped again by some itinerant ragamuffin with a sword and a destiny complex, and there's a bounty on your head throughout the Hold.

Umm... yes. That's right! As requested!

 

Except that you would also be assigned a bounty if you just march in and take them before he has employed you.

 

You can still steal them at night if you want. In fact, with RND I might have to steal some in order to make soups and stews.
