Ormorm
Pretty new to Skyrim, and I just learned that if a player was made Thane by a Jarl, and that Jarl is replaced as part of the civil war, the player won't be Thane of that hold anymore and will have to re-earn the title, if they can. If you are no longer Thane, do you lose the housecarl from that hold? I had slipped into trying to be Thane to every Jarl and collect all the housecarls, but there's not much sense in it if I'll lose half of them as the story progresses. Thanks for responding, I couldn't find an answer to this via search.
IsharaMeradin
You do not lose the housecarl. They will remain available for use once unlocked. The only thing that might be of concern is the "get out of jail free card". That ability is lost along with the thane title when a Jarl is replaced. But re-earning the title for most is as simple as talking to them. Only the one in The Rift will require doing a small quest before hand.
