Zoetos
Hi all! I've been playing Skyrim for a long time and recently got back to playing the SSE version. For storytelling en roleplaying purposes I wanted to create a mod for myself/my character that adds new dialogue options to existing NPC's. Kind of in the same way mods like 'Interesting NPC's', 'Amorous Adventures' and custom followers like 'Inigo' do. However, since it's only for storytelling purposes, I'm more interested in the 'Interesting NPC's' approach. As they mostly add dialogue's only without any quest related to it. Of course in my case I won't be using custom voice actors, so I'd have to edit the existing dialogue to fit the lines I'd want them to say. Unfortunately I'm not really experienced with modding Skyrim (I've used Creation Kit before with Oldrim, but only for creating followers/NPC's). I've been researching and watching some video's but they're all for standalone purposes and I would not know how to do everything in the correct order and combine it to actually create a dialogue driven mod. So I was hoping if you guys we're willing to help me out a bit and point me in the right directions, so I can learn how to create this mod. To summarize the mod I wish to create: Add new player dialogue prompt(s) to NPC (for example Alea)Player has 'custom conversation/dialogue' with NPC (will have to edit the NPC's lines)Option that when new dialogue sequence is finished, more will appear (creating more dialogue material to use over time to get to know NPC)Tips for creating custom dialogue from existing Skyrim voice files (I'll probably use Adobe Audition for this? Just don't now how to get my hands on the in game files) Also, I've tried downloading and opening Creation Kit through Steam but I can't seem to get it to work. It just won't open at all, no messages, nothing... not sure what I'm doing wrong there? I think that's about everything. Any help will be much appreciated! :)
pepperman35
After you sort out the Creation Kit install issue, I'd recommend you begin with the basics by watching or reading tutorials on the Creation Kit. Darkfox127's youtube channel would be a great place to start the learning adventure. https://www.youtube.com/@Darkfox127/playlists kinggath also has an excellent tutorial series called Bethesda Mod School. While a lot of his content is geared towards FO4, the Creation Kit fundamentals will apply to Skyrim modding as well. He has several tutorials on NPCs and dialogue that may interest you. Lastly, spend a lot of time in the CK and game files, find examples of what Bethesda did that aligns with your mod design. Examine how they did it (reverse engineering). The tutorials will give you the fundamentals but it will take your creative thinking to take what you learn and weave it together to fit your needs. Above all, be patient as it will take time to master these skills.
