kablasia
For some reason I cannot upgrade my armor or weapons at a workbench or grindstone. I have the items needed and in the upgrade menu it shows the armor/weapon in white, but when I press [R] to craft the upgrade nothing happens. I've tried reloading my game, restarting skyrim, trying different benches and grindstones, and trying to upgrade different items. I don't have many mods since I just started playing skyrim on my pc. I just deleted skyrim and I'm re-installing it from steam and I can't post my load order because nmm won't let me see it unless i have the game installed. But it should look like this.SkyrimPatchUnofficialpatchSPIKESKY UIcloaks of skyrimimmersive armorimmersive weaponsELFX (Enhanced lights FX)ELFX exteriorsRCRN (Real Color and Real Nights)RCRN fog and I have enhanced night sky, but it's not in the load order. I installed the unofficial patch and immersive weapons after I noticed the problem, so they can't be whats causing this. I have already deactivated each mod 1 by 1 to see if any were causing it, but nothing has changed. Note I can still craft items at the forge and make leather strips, I just can't upgrade anything, vanilla or mod items. I did change some controls in the game like making [R] to run instead of sheathing the weapon. I did change it back and made it blank, but still nothing works. Any ideas on what to do? kablasia
I figured out what the problem was. I re-installed skyrim and the problem was still there. I googled skyrim issues with the [R] key and I saw a guy had an issue with dropping items with [R] when he changed the function of [R] to a different key. He had to use the new key to do the old functions of [R] even though in-game it tells him to use [R]. So in my case I changed to sheath weapon [R] to [F], so when I want to upgrade something i have to use the [F] key instead of the [R], even though skyrim is telling me it's the [R] key. Took me hours of frustration to figure it out lol.
Shadeybladey
Yes, Skyrim does that. It does not update most key re-mappings in the menus. I think it shows some (I use M1 for moving, M2 for striking and M3 to activate), but most just don't update. I use Z for sheathing. You can just click on the button in the menu instead of pressing the button on the keyboard. I do that for smelting lots of ores, click and type "Y", click, "Y", click, "Y" etc.
