overload1977
well for years i have been using diskeeper, but this year 2009 diskeeper was well.... crap i loved 2008 but 09 is below par so i when online looking for a new one and heres what i found. so farr 1.-- Smart Defrag -- at www.iobit.com. It speeds up my PC by defragmenting those slow files in the background automatically and quietly, so that I do not have to re-install my Windows or purchase a new computer. I really like it and best of all, it is completely free. They do not insert adware to your PC and they do not spy on you. Smart Defrag has received very positive reviews from publications such as CNET, Chip and PC World. A smart tool to maintain your system performance, speed and stability for no cost at all! You can download and use it for free get it here >>>> http://www.iobit.com/iobitsmartdefrag.html rating 9.5 / 10 its better than diskeeper this it what i`m using right now :) 2.--Auslogics Disk Defrag-- at www.auslogics.com Join your hard drive fragments together into a tight bunch with this freeware. Auslogics Disk Defrag's interface couldn't be any cleaner or easier to use. Choose a hard drive from an easy-to-read pull-down menu, and Disk Defrag instantly displays the drive's size, and used and free space. The program even displays a pie graph for visual learners. One click starts the defragmentation process. The program's defrag process screen displays another handy visual. A sector map makes it easy to see how much of the drive is fragmented, allocated, or free. As the program churns away, the defragged sectors are displayed in blue. i found the program fast, even on older XP systems. A handy HTML report is prepared after each defrag session. A summary displays the total files and folders defragged, while the detail section lists the defrag outcome for each file. only wish a final sector map was included in the report. Novices to system administrators will love this easy-to-use hard drive defrag program. get it here >>>> http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/disk-defrag rating 9.3 / 10 i used to use this before i got diskeeper its on par with it these are all free and v.good if you know others post them here i may add more later as well :thanks:
Skotte
I use Smart defrag as well, seems to work fine me, I think I give Auslogics Disk Defrag a try too. A note for anyone using a SSD drive: defragging can shorten the lifespan of the drive.
Thor.
You beat me to it auslogic rules, use it all the time. The others are ok but they are system hogs.
